Great, so they are all doing phone, mobile and TV. It means the things we want to watch are spread out over 17 different companies, all of whom want £20 a month.

Take BT Sport. Bought a load of stuff from BBC etc. and now I can't watch MotoGP without a BT Sport sub. **** off BT. Next it'll be Sky with Indycar and Vodafone with BTCC.

I think they are all flogging a dead horse anyway. It'll all be online by the time they get their 'TV' packages together. Bastards.
Isn't Indycar also on BT Sport?

I agree. CTIL are moving forward but still have a long way to go, especially here in South Wales. Travel north or west of Swansea and you'll only get 3G or 4G from VO2 in major towns. Elsewhere is just 2G only. Useless for people travelling to Tenby or Saundersfoot, Fishguard, etc and want to use data in their cars. With MBNL you'll struggle to ever find yourself not having 3G as a bare minimum, as they pretty much offer blanket 3G coverage here.
Try the East of the UK and it's a different story altogether! The O2 managed area is miles ahead of the Vodafone half!

Vodafone used to be really good here, but in the last 4 months or so they have gone downhill, in fact I think it started before then.
People have complained but Vodafone still seems to be not bothering to sort it out.
I am not that bothered about data, my main concern is voice, so people can get hold of me if they need to, like if my Dad is ill.

I have more or less be with vodafone since I got my first mobile phone many many years ago, I did change to BT a few years back when they had that Broadband anywhere package. but went back to Vodafone after the two year contract was up.

I have tried over networks, by getting a sim and using it on a PAYG basis for a month, but vodafone always seemed to be the nest around here until now.

My mobile phone sim only contract comes to the end next month, so I will be looking around and make a list of ones to look closer at, I do not think sky will be in that list even if they have it up and running by then.
i expect they will want people to enter into a contract and to be honest, there are plenty of services that do not have a contract and is seems to be better value than contracts.
giffgaff for instance gives better value that what I am paying now.

I pay £14 a month for 600minutes, which I hardly use, 1GB of data and unlimited text, giffgaff I can get 1GB of data, 500 minutes of voice and unlimited text for a tenner and no contract.
I could even cope with the £7.50 package to be honest, I would have to download my spotify music to the phone from home, that offers 500MB of data, 250 mins of calls and unlimited text.

the other thing that is annoying me about vodafone is their silly two form factor system to sign into their website, no choice on the matter, you will use it.
Stay away from GG they are the worst network it may say you have 3g-4g but from my experience all i got was cannot connect to network the worst thing was i had a Tesco mobile sitting next to me and that was fine and it wasn't my phone because i switched sim and got the same results both networks run off O2 so you would of thought same signal but no GG gets a third class signal after O2 and Tesco why i don't know because O2 own GG and half of Tesco and for what i have read about GG theirs a lot of people get the same problem with them.

Three is the best in my area where i live and EE Three also share a lot of EE masts so thats why they have a good service in a lot of areas not saying all.
when EE took over form Orange and T-Mobile EE decommissioned a load of mast and some people lost there signal and had to go to another network.

Zen has acquired exclusive rights to nine pin skittles, whilst Andrews & Arnold is rumoured to be in the market for live coverage of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

I chuckled a little.

I wish I could afford Zen or A&A.

Then again, sitting inside the No Sign the other day, EE (which I agree with you is generally awesome) was flicking between 1 bar of 3G and 1 bar of 4G with webpages loading sporadically or not at all, whereas Vodafone was a consistent 2/3 bars of 4G with solid performance.

So swings and roundabouts, at least in urban areas at the moment. CTIL will expand to the rural areas pretty soon - improving their data coverage there - and it will be interesting to see what happens to indoor coverage on EE when they turn all their 800 on.

I'm running the two contracts on a dual sim S7 Edge at the moment, so hedging my bets on which turns out best. And doing it is a lot of geeky fun

I've got a dual sim S7 running on BTU firmware and they run great! EE in 1 sim and Vodafone in the other:P

and yet when my mate lived around here he is on Giff gaff and never had any problems, I phoned him and I could hear him fine, and yet when I rang people who was on EE, it was awful as they kept cutting out. Still fine now he have moved to an other city.

EE do seem to be better now, but I do not really want to go with EE, belongs to BT now and BT have not said what they are going to do with it. Keep it as it is or integrate it into BT.

I know I am with plusnet broadband wise and they belong to BT, but at least it is still separate and seems to be staying that way.

I think it's more of a problem when it come to data. GG takes the lowest priority on the O2 network, so generally gets data speeds that are a fraction of the equivalent O2 speed in the area. I think for voice it will be less of a problem.

I got the EE sim recently £19.99 for 16GB with a few perks etc.
I cancelled it after 5 days as the experience wasn't especially better than Three.

Sticking to my Three sim - £14 a month, 600 minutes, 30GB a month.

That's what I watch now. Coverage almost as good as live. You just have to avoid all motorsport sites/ twitter / FB until 8PM monday in case some ******** blurts out the result.

Probably, I gave it up early this year as it's too random and the broadcasting is awful. I very much like JPM being a long time Williams supporter but it's hard to fight through the American advertising BS.

I guess it will come to us at some point.

Must admit i do agree with you with the BT EE wondering how bad EE will get in BTs hands but i don't think they can do anything for the first year or so to it
its after that will they start hammering the prices up only time can tell
I was lucky enough to get the £1 deal from Life mobile which is owned by EE and so far its been really good only 3g No 4g i get unlimited mins, 5000 text, 4gb data for £1 a month it suppose to be for 6mths and i have had it nearly that and not herd nothing off of them yet its also a 30 day contract.

There have been a few threads about Sky Mobile over the years. However if you are interested in trying to stream video over O2's amazing GPRS you will be able to register your interest in Sky Mobile on 31st October. Spooky huh! Anyway it will only be open to existing subscribers. No idea if they will have any other restrictions as often they do and it could be package dependant.....

I must remind you that EE had over a years head start on CTIL (4G) im not excusing vo2 lack of 3G outside major towns but they are getting there act together finally
Really? There is little or very poor coverage of any sort on O2 in vast areas of Lincolnshire, whereas EE 4G is available in all the areas I have travelled to recently.

Well the 31st came and went.. No deets so far.

As for O2.. North of the Scottish Central belt they are dire. Even in Edinburgh & Glasgow the network is one of the slowest at peak, falls over regularly when Edinburgh city is busy, Voda the same.

Did anyone else get this email from EE

Hi Paul,

Sky is set to launch a new mobile service this winter called Sky Mobile. Existing Sky customers are able to register their interest in the service from Monday 31st October. So far, no details of prices or packages have been released… this is where you come in!

If you are an existing Sky customer, we would like you to keep an eye out for any promotions you receive from Sky about Sky Mobile offers and let us know about it on our new forum:

I guess males sense.

Why not find out from the customers what they are offering and then let them beat it. Sounds like it's going to get competitive all of a sudden.

BT are really worried SKY could kill their mobile sales. I remember speaking to someone high up in EE that said SKY buying over a network would allow them to ultra competitive as they would run the mobile side at almost a loss but make it up with Broadband/Landline/TV costs. Which would kill sales from EE/BT unless they really react, I expect it to be not as bad seeing it's an MVNO deal, but their sim only existing customer prices should shake things up a little for the other networks.

O2 isn't worse then EE in Edinburgh.

I tried it out for a month and 4G was a joke. Thought my phone was faulty then the guy in the EE store reluctantly admitted that they were having ongoing technical issues in the city.

I stuck my phone on 3G only, and it worked slowly most of the time except for occasional Android message that the network didn't support mobile data, that I've never seen with a O2 or 3 sim card.
