THIS is how soap should look in 2016.

F**k me it looks beautiful and five million years ahead of how all the soaps look normally.

It's the most beautiful I've ever seen a soap. It's utterly incredible looking tonight. I really wish soaps looked like this all the time.

How stunning.

Take note soap execs, that was visually beautiful. The best cinematography I've ever seen on a soap. Made the format feel like 2016, not 1996.

It's filmed on single camera which is what the main dramas are usually filmed on.

Shocked you couldn't notice.

It was a quantum leap up from normal soap cinematography.

Would be interesting to see more views.

I personally wish the show (and other soaps) were filmed this way all the time. Sharper, higher contrast, shallower depth of field, it just looked spectacularly brilliant, like a 9pm drama.

I agree, it looked amazing, like a film .The picture was much clearer and sharper. When we we go back to the crappy normal 'look' next week it will look terrible after having this for a week

You've said that 3 times now. Are you perchance an ED cameraperson?

I'm really not. I do some work in film and I just really believe soaps should have the production values of 9pm dramas in order to survive in this post-HD age. They never have, until this evening.

I feel like soaps haven't moved with the times and adapted to modern filming techniques like the rest of TV/film. It's a one off, I know, but this is the first time I've seen it and it really was amazing to see.

It's pathetic, I know. Sorry!

I think you're on to something there, cyril - I've lost count of the number of times he's said it on t'Daily as well.

It's just a personal wish I've had for soaps for the last 5 years or so - to look like proper dramas. Forgive me for being excited to see it actually happen on-screen!

You're all right, I'm only teasing. I didn't really pay much attention to be honest, I saw it was Robron and switched off, because I think they're wank.

But as a general principle, it might be interesting to see if they start filming differently. Hard to keep up when they're churning out 6 episodes a week, I'd have thought.

It was gorgeous to look at. Is this type of camera much more expenseive though?

It is time consuming to film on those type of cameras. I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it is filmed in single camera style rather than the multi-camera set up meaning which shot is filmed individually.

Really? Where did you read it was shot single-camera this week?

I think soap should be shot like this all the time in 2016.
