Samsung S6 fingerprint scanner for banking?
I currently have an iPhone 6 and use the Touch ID for logging in to my banking and credit card apps.
I might be getting a Samsung S6, can you use its fingerprint scanner for the same kind of apps? I can't find any banking apps that say it cannot be used but neither can I see any that say it can. TIA |

No idea about other banking apps but i couldn't use my finger print to login into First Direct app on my S7 Edge a few months ago, despite being able to do that on the iphone 6 app. You're better off speaking to the banks directly (eg Lloyds, Halifax etc) to see if their apps support Android finger print login on new-ish devices.

The Bank of Scotland one doesn't support fingerprint scanning so I doubt that the Halifax one will as they are the same company.

Neither HSBC nor First Direct support fingerprint recognition for their respective banking apps, currently. But I expect that will change in the future...

It does.......as do the others in the RBS Group. I know this because I am lookng at two phones with Natwest and RBS accounts on them.
I use the RBS one all the time and it doesn't allow fingerprints for login. Still asks for the passcode. |

RBS made a big deal about being the first Android apps to do fingerprint log in. On the Natwest app you are asked if you want to or you can select it in Settings later
My app certainly doesn't have it. |

It definitely works on the NatWest app on my Galaxy S6. Like the previous poster said, it asks you if you would like to enable it. You can also turn it on by going into the settings on the NatWest app.
