It can be good but last years dancing was awful to average. Only three dances over 30, Jay as a giant Cat or Wolf Helen's Mummy Samba. and Georgia as a Ghostbuster. Everyone else not great.

When I started this thread I thought there was a faint chance we might be spared the Halloween 'special' this year. Alas not.

A lot of them are hard rock too which means the band and singers will struggle with them and they probably aren't as well known. I did love Alice Cooper performing during the results show of the first halloweon show but apart from Kellie last year I suspect most of that type of music isn't well known enough to use.

I like Halloween it's always interesting to see what bonkers stuff people come up with and the costuming and make up are always great. It'll be interesting to see what the Judge comes as this year and to a lesser extent Ed.

I do enjoy it, but find that sometimes the dancing suffers as a result of all the over-excitedness of the costumes/makeup etc.

I really hate the backing dancers - the only dance that ever used them to any good effect was Michael Vaughan's New York New York AS and even then they were distracting.

I actually really enjoy Halloween week - the costumes, the silly themes - all of it is good fun.

Much better that than some of the themes we get in non theme weeks, tbh. Also Halloween >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blackpool. Blackpool theming is the worst.

Ed said on the results show that he was coming as a spooky shopkeeper <shrugs>. Little Shop of Horrors maybe?

I usually loathe it, but who knows I may be surprised this year and enjoy it. I always feel that its been done to death but I do recall one or two dances that I enjoyed, Scotts VW with Natalie and Helens samba, there probably have been more but I can't recall at the moment.

I thought Movie Night was very good this year and if that and Halloween were the only theme nights I'd be happy for them to be stuffed full of props and whatever other nonesense. I don't mind if they go a bit 'large' for Blackpool either, but it's what they do the rest of the time that gets up my nose. I don't want themes in 'normal' weeks. Harrumph!”

Movie night this year proved that themes can and do work with the right material pretty much loved all of it from Ed challenging The Mask to Ore and Joanne's utterly wonderful Singing in the Rain routine which was one of the few good uses of a prop I've ever seen to boot.

I voted for Lesley and Anton's 'Couple of Swells' QS as their finest hour too. Lovely routine that was very much their personalities at their best.

Like everything else theming is hit and miss and dances in the past used to strong themes sometimes to help sell them.

I hate Hallowe'en and everything about it, from the shops full of tat to Trick or Treat, so this is one edition of Strictly I can do without. Sorry to be such an old misery.
