One is enough.Multiple exclamation points suggest that you are really worked up—they’re the verbal equivalent of hitting someone over the head. The result is annoying at best and toxic at worst. Statements like, “I can’t believe your team missed the deadline!!!” signal the end of professional discourse.

And this....

Shout when something big happens
Certain events require an exclamation mark by law. If you get married or give birth, exclaim away – you’ve earned it!
But one is enough. As Terry Pratchett once wrote: ‘Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind.’

I'm just answering your question Craig

Since when has an exclamation mark been rude?! I always take it to mean that someone is just trying to make a point. Without wishing to sound condescending, I think you may have taken that post rather personally and gone on the defensive.

An exclamation mark is just that, an exclamation and is usually used to make one's point. I've never seen it as being rude?

It just makes NDD come across like an over excited child. I have no issue with their posts but the constant !!!!!! at the end of EVERY sentence is really not needed.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Maria in this story line?

Because to be honest I am finding it a bit hard

She was warned by multiple people - Aidan, Kate, Sophie, Luke & Audrey that letting Caz stay was a mistake yet she just ignored the views of people she knows (some of them for years) over a complete stranger
Nope i cannot feel sorry for her she is a dopey mare. The whole story has more plotholes than a sieve too.

I'm sorry if my post has upset you, it certainly wasn't intentional & I was trying to clarify my earlier post for you as you seemed upset by that one too! On the exclamation mark thing, if you read any of my posts on any subject the !! Is just my little trademark & I do it without even thinking now, so don't feel I am being rude to you because of that. (I am really having to think hard not to put them in this post )
As I say regarding the comment that Samia can't act I say what I think, that it is ridiculous. That's my opinion & I would say the same thing to anyone who made that assertion, not
just you, because it quite simply isn't true, something which you admitted yourself in your post above (sorry had to delete the !! again ) Like I said in my post above I am not asking anyone to say she is terrific or fabulous or even better than average, but to say she can't act at all is categorically false, not just an opinion, so I stand by my 'ridiculous' comment on that one
Thanks for the reply. More than one exclamation mark can be seen as rude, but heck, I can see you never meant anything by it Re Samia, I just have never really seen anything i could say that her acting is good, that's all. Anyway, thank god we all have different opinions else the world would be boring

Well you learn something new everyday! I love a good exclamation mark or ten, I use them frequently in text messages, no wonder my friends call me Mr Angry!

I don't care if you think it's ridiculous to say she can't act. She really can't. That is my opinion, I stand by it, just as you feel it's factual for some reason to say she can act. That is also just your opinion.

I've been dipping in and out, mostly out since it became the samia ghadie show. I watched the other night, and there she was being questioned about a possible murder, with the police assuming she's involved. As usual, no emotion from the character at all. 'What am I going to do?' she asks Shane Ward, as though she had just lost her flat keys and couldn't get inside. As I've said before, I couldn't care less what happens to her because she doesn't make me care. I can't invest in her character because to be honest she doesn't actually invest anything in her either.

Take a look at Eastenders. Lee, a character I have never warmed to and considered dull is involved in a depression story line and I found it very moving last night to watch his portrayal, I believed him. I care about him, he's made me care, and that is called acting. To make people who previously didn't feel that interested actually feel emotion.
Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to say, but couldn't find the right words. To me personally, she is an emotionless actress. Thanks for helping me express what I really meant

I agree 100%
This story is beyond stupid anyway but the fact we have 2 terrible actresses at the centre of it doesn't help. Shane Ward isn't much better either.

Its really saying something when i'd rather watch the Nazirs storyline instead of this, thats how bad it is.
I totally agree. I can't get with Shane either. He's too wooden

Saying Samia can't act is false because clearly she is able, she is doing it.
Saying Samia is a bad actress would be a fairer opinion.

The ACTRESS is performing on screen, so clearly (like most people) she has the ability to act, whether she does it convincingly is a different matter altogether and in your opinion, she doesn't. In my opinion she does.

I like Maria, but I do think she's being a bit whiney at the moment she's just like 'wah wah wahhh' She needs to grow a pair, go find that nutjob and do her in for real!
So then how come so many people say the likes of Anthony Cotton or the guy who plays Dev shouldn't be on screen as they can't act? Of course you can be in a soap with limited acting skills. I'm not saying I could do what they do, but I think given their wages, I'd try to be more convincing.

My apologies for going off the thread though. Maybe get back to the story line?

I dont think it's hurting anybody. If however you feel unsafe take my advice, keep your stick on the ice and don't go chasing that puck into the corners with your head down. Don't sweat the small stuff.

It's a fair point but I'm a fan of Samia Ghadie, and find her much more convincing than the above two actors you've mentioned. I think Sean and Dev have a place on the street, but I could never see them taking on a very hard hitting storyline.

I just remember Maria during the Liam and Tony days, and from memory, she did a sterling job. Just my opinion though

Lol!
Who would have thought you could fill almost a full page of a DS thread discussing my exclamation marks!! Fame at last!

Fraid it's probably too late to change now, besides I actually quite like having a trademark so excitable child it is unfortunately!!

If it REALLY starts bothering people I will make an effort!
Answers on a postage stamp please!

Edit: Oops just noticed the Terry Pratchett comment above!

Thanks for that one Lindaja, proves something I've been suspecting for a long while!!!!!

It was the three years between the beginning of the Charlie Stubbs s/l in 06 & the end of the Liam/Carla/Tony/Maria storyline, end of 09, that changed my entire perception of Samia from a very pretty face playing a character who I'd always liked, to a bloody good actress who had me crying real tears on many occasions during the stillbirth s/l , Liam's death & Maria's subsequent fruitless efforts to prove Tony was responsible, purely through making her performances real, not OTT overacting, but real & powerful!! This is why I will always stand up for her against accusations that she can't act!!
My opinion admittedly, but a very strong one based on how her performances can make me feel!!
I honestly can't imagine ever feeling that way about a s/l involving Sean or Dev, though unlike a lot on here I have never gone down the route of desperately wanting either character axed or killed off! As you say they have their place on the show!

Has anyone any idea when this, far fetched even for Corrie, dreary story line will be put out of it's misery? Maria's whining is insufferable at the best of times.
Oh and !!!!!

Sorry to sway away from exclamation mark gate

I'm actually enjoying this Maria/Caz storyline surprisingly! I enjoy Maria as a character and she's often been overlooked by bigger personalities.

I can see it going, wrongfully imprisoned, Caz returns saying Maria attacked her and she was petrified, another investigation, Kate and Caz reunite, Maria and Adam hook up, the truth about everything comes out, Eva vs. Maria cat fights and Caz leaves.
