For those unaware what the show is about (i had to google this as i didn't have a clue)

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...ck-time-884922

Sounds quite good. And the stargate team behind it gives me promise.

Mine does too, especially because Timeless is turning into a turkey.

the method they're using, well I haven't seen any show or film do it THAT way before.

whilst watching I got a feeling similar to when I saw the first ep of Sense8. Not that these are similar shows, but that I can feel a tingling that I could be watching something a bit special.

of course the show might blow it with the next ep

btw: to anyone wondering "what the heck is this then?!" I'd say simply "time travel" and if that yields even a teenie bit of interest then avoid the google and the imdb and just give the opener a shot.

and as for the ep1

I find the concept interesting as it also includes the idea of being able to not only travel back in time but also to import someone elses consciousness into anther body.

But I won't consider it a time travel show unless they actually have some contact with the future, other than what they remember.

As it will just be set in the present with a bit of future knowledge. Which is just a like having an intelligent person investigating things in the present.

^with a 'bit' of future knowledge ?! - iirc they've come back from 3200 (give or take a year or two) so methinks they'll be crammed full of the stuff

Question is: why the heck did they go back to THIS particular date. Just what kinda crappyness is there in that future, and what event could they possible have tracked back to this date as being the ONE thing that will make everything turn out ?

Maybe we'll get people traveling back from 3400 saying "hey guys, couldn't you've just waited a bit cos in 3400 things are frickin rosey, and people traveling back from 2400 saying "hey frakkers, why should I give a shit about your 3200, here in my 2400 I've a family and a great job and a 50" tv and if you do your tweaking, well that's gonna wipe out my existence, and I kinda don't want that to happen. Sure, if you do nuttin then 3200 is ****ed but I'll be long dead, so screw you guys and the time machine you didn't ride in on." (or something like that).

( maybe they've come back to killer a baby Hitler)

And here was me thinking the future people had sent back ALL their guys in one big swoop, but to different timeslots which is why they're appearing at staggered times. By doing it THAT way, the show saves itself from having to deal with / explain away the posibility that something one of them does fracks up the creation of the mindmailing machines and the resulting paradox thingie. But with the kid-a-gram thing at the end we see the future people reacted to our gang changing history - so it looks like this show and the Timeless show have the same time-rules in play.

They took over Maclarens body because he was going to fall to his death at the elevator but the only reason he was there was because he was investigating the travelers. I think the writers messed up with that part.

I was very confused by the whole not falling down the elevator shaft thing...

But I guess it's another show where they will make up the rules as they go along.

I'm open to being corrected but I think you've got it wrong.

Originally Maclaren went to the building because he was chasing a bad guy, and fell to his death (along with the baddie, right ?!) whilst chasing the guy around inside.

The Futuries knew this, knew he'd be an ideal candidate so they change history, making him go the the building to intercept them rather than because he was chasing the baddie. The Futuries killed the bad guy and brought him to the building to keep some of the history the same -> (1) baddie dying in building and (2) Maclaren being there when it happened. But what they changed was rather than inhabit his brain at the time of his death, they inhabited his brain at the time he would've died. So by rights he should be kinda pissed cos their interference meant he wasn't going to fall down the shaft but they still, basically, killed him anyway - he still got shafted.

This begs the question: the Futuries have a list of EVERYONE who died, or if not everyone then a big list. Their interferences will now mean some of these people don't die when they historically died. So do the Futuries view these people as "you should be dead so I can frak with you in anyway I like if it helps me with my current assignment." Will we see them freely killing people left right and centre with no compunction because (historically) those people died already and could be seen as living on "borrowed time"

Anyone still watching this?

I'm intrigued enough to keep watching for now but only just

So who kidnapped the team in the latest episode?

The Directors to test their loyalty?

A rouge group of Travelers who want to create a different future (by preventing certain missions)?

Or a 2016 Organisation that is aware of the Travelers in their time period?

I dunno, episode 1 bored me a little. It's OK, but only barely.

I'm sure it gets better but there's just SO MUCH telly on - SO SO SO MUCH - it's time to really be choosy about what shows I watch.

I am still watching and Episode 5 with the kidnapped team did offer some different visuals and a different mood so I found it quite interesting. Time travel shows can become confusing so they could easily lose me. I did enjoy watching Eric McCormack in Perception and was sorry to see that end, there was something endearing about that show even though it was a bit daft in some ways.

What kind of dim folk would assume they weren't being monitored in the holding cages?

Well that was unusual, only six episodes in and they've already carried out their mission. Most shows would have held that off till the Season 1 finale

Still as was said at the end it's doesn't seem to have worked.

One thing I was wondering about, when a Traveler's host body is killed does the traveler also die or do they just bounce back to the 22nd Century and their own body?

They may well have explained this and I missed it.

I mention it as I was curious if it was the Engineer who kept popping back into the Soldiers or if each of them was a new Traveler.

Actually thinking about it there was at least two travelers beaming in at one point so it couldn't have just been the Engineer.

From the seems of it is pure death, maybe once they travel back their body gets destroyed in the future too.

Finally caught up, the moment in the episode where he stood up and said I am traveler *insert number* and I am not alone gave me chills, such a great moment.

Really rather enjoyed that.

I've struggled to find a new series to get into but this ticked all the boxes for me and while it wasn't perfect, it was engaging enough that I could turn a blind eye.

Watched on Netflix hence spoiler in case anyone not seen the ep 12

I'd never heard of this show until I saw this thread. Just watched first ep and quite enjoyed it although at the start I had no idea what was going on. I did have to Google to find out.

Just finished all 12 episodes after a two mammoth binge sessions. Actually, it helps not knowing what is going on.

Now I've got the OA to finish. I had to take a break from that as it was twisting my brain a little too much.
