strictly as bad at picking rumbas as they are tangos - no rumba in either of those tracks awful

please note producers any old slow piece of music does NOT = Rumba

bendymixer, can I ask what makes a good piece of rumba music? On Strictly it seems slow mushy love song usually suffices.

How is it wasted on Laura??. I can't remember who danced a jive for 'Reet Petite'?.
I must google.

Found it. DVO and James in 2012, scored 35. Will be interesting,

I love Ore's and Louise's songs too. Funny they always get good songs.

Couple of duffers (I too have given up on their rumba choices) but an improvement on last week at least.

Only from the point of view that Claudia is actually Reet Petite and Laura isn't . I expected more of the literal record picking elves

Gorka may be dancing with Anastacia if Brendan isn't better. Yay! I love Gorka. His voice is literally perfection. Hope he's dancing

That means I could never dance to 'Pretty woman'.

What's gone wrong?

There's a lot of "danceable" tunes in there.

Love that song.

I can't see Greg ever being in the DO. May be in the semifinal.

Even when Ed gets a serious slow-ish dance, he gets a 'comedy' number... no doubt his routine will involve lots of marching on the spot. Sigh.

Some interesting choices this week, my thoughts in bold.

Anastacia and Brendan will be dancing the Quickstep to 'My Kind of Town' by Frank Sinatra - great song, not sure she's going to be able to keep up for a QS though

Claudia and AJ will be dancing the Samba to 'Young Hearts Run Free' by Candi Staton - Love this song, not sure it's a Samba though.

Daisy and Aljaz will be dancing the Charleston to 'Happy Feet' by Manhattan Rhythm Kings - Could be a crowd pleaser if she can get the swivel in those long legs

Danny and Oti will be dancing the Rumba to the Sam Smith version of 'How Will I Know' - hate the song, hate the rumba so this will be interesting to see if Danny and Oti can break my dislike

Ed and Katya will be dancing the American Smooth to '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' by Tony Christie - Another odd choice for an American Smooth but it's a fab song

Greg and Natalie will be dancing the Cha Cha to 'We Found Love' by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris - great song, hopefully another great Latin as he can move his hips.

Judge Rinder and Oksana will be dancing the Jive to 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' by The Andrews Sisters - Another themey performance for this one then I suspect.

Laura and Giovanni will be dancing the Jive to 'Reet Petite' by Jackie Wilson - top quality song and should suit the Jive but not sure Laura's going to get the sharpness.

Lesley and Anton will be dancing the Tango to the Gotan Project version of 'Whatever Lola Wants' - Interesting song choice for Lesley given the origins of the song but mixed with the fab Gotan Project it could work really well.

Louise and Kevin will be dancing the Rumba to the Michael Buble version of 'Always on My Mind' - I hate the rumba, I hate the Buble so I suspect I ain't gonna love this one.

Ore and Joanne will be dancing the Waltz to the Claudia Streza version of 'I Will Always Love You' - that's gonna be sickly sweet then but probably beautiful and why isn't it the Whitney version cos she sang it like that first in The Bodyguard

So they're not even using the 'spare' pros when they need a spare pro.

I have posted vids of traditional rumba music and one of a modern song mixed for rumba you will hear the difference from what we see some weeks on the show

traditional

modern music remixed for rumba

Anastacia, Claudia, Daisy, Greg, Judge Rinder, Laura, Lesley and Ore all have great songs!

The two rumbas are awful choices though and ridiculous choice for Ed's American Smooth. He should at least be given the chance to do a really classy AS!
