Even when Ed gets a serious slow-ish dance, he gets a 'comedy' number... no doubt his routine will involve lots of marching on the spot. Sigh.
Exactly what I thought when I heard.

Anastacia, Claudia, Daisy, Greg, Judge Rinder, Laura, Lesley and Ore all have great songs!

The two rumbas are awful choices though and ridiculous choice for Ed's American Smooth. He should at least be given the chance to do a really classy AS!
I love Louise's song ( Michael Buble's version). I think it will work.

Also, with Greg doing the cha cha, that means everyone has done it now apart from Ed.

It's a nice enough song but it's not really a rumba song imo.

I love to see Ed's Rumba or AT, it will be hilarious.

I love Aj and Claudia song. ..still remember strictly 2013 blackpool opening dance to that song. They better do it justice.
I liked that group routine too - couple of ex pupils took part in that and were extras on the main dances - think it was first time Jo danced with the pros with Brendan

Yes I think it was Bendy, I really enjoyed the start to that show.

Perhaps they'll have him falling off a travelator in a sentimental nod to Ronnie Corbett.

I can't think of anything less smooth and sophisticated.

Two Latins in a row for Greg... hopefully we can come together to save him from the DO.
I was saying the other day that he may go out when he gets to the cha cha, and then they give him that this week. Let's hope i'm wrong. Great song choice for them, though.

I wish someone would dance a jive to 'Uptown girl' Westlife version.
Love that song.
Yuck! So relieved they're not. They ruined a Billy Joel classic.

I love Westlife and I love that song. I hope someone, someday will dance a Jive to it.

bendymixer, can I ask what makes a good piece of rumba music? On Strictly it seems slow mushy love song usually suffices.
I doubt Bendymixer would ever admit it but Anton's choice for Katie Derham's rhumba last year - Never by Shirley Bassey - is a classic show rhumba number. Watch the peerless Gaynor Fairweather dance it with Donnie Burns

I thought I was going mad there. I couldn't find the post I just made about this weeks music..

No wonder - there are two threads covering the same subject!

Poor little Ronnie - I'm sure he saw the funny side of it though.

why would I not admit it ?? it's a good dance track and love Donnie and Gaynor dancing to it - can hardly compare Anton's and think Anton was just lucky with what producers chose for him

Some interesting choices this week, my thoughts in bold.

Ore and Joanne will be dancing the Waltz to the Claudia Streza version of 'I Will Always Love You' - that's gonna be sickly sweet then but probably beautiful and why isn't it the Whitney version cos she sang it like that first in The Bodyguard
Completely agree, why choose to reference a lesser/karaoke version of an iconic song originally performed so majestically by a legendary artist - totally bizarre.

May be they don't have the singers to justify Whitney's version. Last week they killed
Amy's song.

Frankly, Dolly Parton's own version of the song is light years better than Whitney Houston's rendition.

It's a poignant love song and Whitney ruined it by bellowing like a walrus in prolonged labour.

I didn't know about Dolly's original version. Still prefer Whitney's version. Loved the movie.

The original version of "I will always love you," was a nice C&W ballad. I really didn't like it as a "power ballad."

Some interesting choices this week, my thoughts in bold.

Claudia and AJ will be dancing the Samba to 'Young Hearts Run Free' by Candi Staton - Love this song, not sure it's a Samba though.
Think it worked pretty well as a samba in 2010 when Matt Baker & Aliona scored 38 with it at Blackpool (and then full marks on pretty much every tour date...)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BDzzqqUlSvU

And I really hate it when they repeat songs with the same dance - particularly when the previous version got high marks - as you're just going to compare... And that's one of the few sambas I've ever liked on Strictly

Lesley an Anton have the best song. Don Warrington danced tango to this song with Lilia Kopolova.

Original and best.

... and of course it was Dolly who wrote it.
