The duffs duffs were always dramatic and built up, these days they are about the smallest of things from Martin and Stacey moving in, to Kim's one tonight.........I think we're in for a relatively quite time down EE this Christmas

Agree OP, I don't really understand what's happening. I don't mind the driving storyline, and I do feel for Kim, so her reaction made sense, but why on earth was that at the end of the episode lol. It's not exactly going to attract casual viewers is it?

Doesn't every episode end with a duff duff? Unless Julia's theme (or other variation) is used?

The whole show is pretty boring right now. It's made up entirely of 'nothing-y' everyday storylines.

No they weren't, they only became that way as the soaps became more sensational and less realistic. When EE started we had many 'duff-duffs' like this

I am talking about big duffs duffs that everyone is expecting to happen everyday.

Just to give my actual opinion. The episode endings all appear to be signalling upcoming stories

Friday ended on Billy taking over the undertakers and Pam and Les leaving
Monday ended on Will who is being bullied by Denny and that is clearly going somewhere
Tuesday ended on Kim. The driving or not driving is clearly Kim's storyline that was teased and is going somewhere.

I expect the two for the rest of the week will be in the same vein

I am enjoying the episodes at the moment no complaints at all

Exactly. People are always expecting too much from soaps once a new EP comes in they think it's going to be the good old days again. People on here need to realise the show is looking to the future not the past.

The duff duffs aren't always about dramatic cliffhangers. In the old days, we had some low key duff duffs. Eg: Kathy's knitting machine.

You expect every episode to end with a shocking cliffhanger?

Does real life work like that?

Agreed. SOC is working on making the show flow naturally it won't all drastically change to big edge of your seat drama.

SOC is doing a terrible job. The show is so boring right now, I don't even watch the show live anymore.

I think at the moment he is trying to fix characters let them all interact and slowly drama shall follow.

I like what SOC is trying to do but today's duff duff was one of the worst ever imo.

There used to be a time when Eastenders was watched live and on time. Nowadays I catch up on Iplayer mostly flicking through and skipping the boring parts (which tbf is most of it now under this SOC guy). For example I just catched up on both Mondays and Tuesdays ep and it took me 15 minutes. It's just full of filler now.

So far SOC is worse than Newman and Birkwood, and that's saying something because I couldn't stand them either, but they weren't this bad, they at least had some interesting storylines going on constantly. Now their biggest storyline is how Billy's day is going or how Kim doesn't want to take her driving test

We need to be patient and wait for a bit longer until new stories are introduced. Kirkwood and DTC were (in my opinion) two producers who were obsessed with sensationalism and many characters became either 'ruined' or 'stale' and the show became a parody of itself. I'm pleased they're introducing some realistic storylines about every day life in general and I'm certain we will get some hard-hitting storylines soon. Eg: Ronnie and Roxy's explosive exits.

I just watched the end online. Pfffft.

I think the problem is SOC needs to find a balance. Having a low key ending is fine ever so often but if its every night then that won't encourage viewers to tune in next time.

Im two episodes behind but i have been ehjoying the show a lot recently. Things are building up in the background, people just need a little patience.

Incase everyone has forgotten we do have Lee and Whitney's wedding coming up with Lee's exit. As well as Max's return and Cora. We also have many exits and Phil's liver coming up so there is still drama to come.

They will probably go to the train station and then realise they forgot to get their oyster card with them and jump the ticket gate. That's as explosive as it's going to get under a SOC.
