Was Gleb on DWTS before he came to Strictly last year? If so that would explain some of his awful choreography that he foisted on Anita. I also don't find him remotely attractive so couldn't understand all the fawning over him last year.

I don't watch DWTS, but if anyone does - I'm wondering what Len's reaction to this was.
Does he adopt a different persona in the US, or does he still try to mark and comment according to what the dance SHOULD be like?”

Len has no idea about the AT, he thinks it is all to do with sweaty gauchos - He is wrong it has never had anything to do with gauchos, that all came about from a 1921 film The Horseman of the Apocalypse where Rudolph Valentino danced the Tango dressed as a gaucho.

See I'm like that about Aljaz, don't get it at all.

I enjoyed him and Anita last year, really like her and think she should have been in the final.

Yes, he did come from DWTS to us.

Yes he first made an appearance on season 16 of dwts as a pro.

I have to defend Gleb here. This is a case of desperate times call for desperate measures and in that case doing this choreography was clever.

The woman he has as a celebrity is relatively unknown to the public, doesn't have much of a fan base and as of consequence her and Gleb tend to fade in the background ( they're 2 or 3 front runners with an Olympian gymnast way at the front ) . Besides their week 1 dance where the choreography was once again unusual , this is the first time since that day were they really stood out; they were the talk of the show the whole night and that was what Gleb was after. There comes a time when you have to choose between pleasing the purists by choreographing a proper dance or just go for the WOW factor by doing what he did. He choose the latter because of his celebrity and also because tbh the US audience at large love stuff like that. People would hate this on strictly lol.

I hope people can see from my post where he is coming from. He's a talented choreographer but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. His strategy worked out for the best. I don't see them being in danger of being eliminated next week and also people are NOW paying more attention to their partnership; which was HIS GOAL

BTW , IMO he is the perfect successor of Derek ( Hough) on dwts because he's very cunning and know how this show works. I would also say because of his choreography ; he's not there yet but out all the pros left besides Mark he has the most potential.

Thanks, Edy I don't blame him, like you said, sometimes you have to do things differently to be noticed among some big names. I think Jana is a good dancer.
Who is the gymnast who is on DWTS??. Does it mean Gleb can't win???.

For people like me who don't watch the show. I love it, not that sleazy.

I think we must define sleaze in a dance slightly differently. But I don't mind a bit of sleaze and I quite enjoyed it in its own terms.

But what makes them/you think it was supposed to be Argentine Tango? There were a few Argentine Tangesque tricks but no AT basic that I could see. At best I would describe it as Tango Fantasia or whatever they call it or an excellent show dance.

I think it's Laurie Hernandez?
Team gold in Rio, and silver from the beam?

Oh I don't know. When the Gauchos have ridden all day from The Pampas to have a quick dance in Buenos Aires 200 miles or so away, he would be very hot, very sweaty and very smelly. I think Len, who is always immaculately turned out, would wholeheartedly approve of him taking a shower before approaching the judges bench.

Indeed more of a docker's dance than a gaucho's dance. Not so evocative though is it?

Thanks, Aggs I have only seen Simone and Madison perform.

I wish they had given me the job of pat drying Gleb.

HE might have enjoyed a bit of a rub here and there too.

I watched it, the performance was good and she's a good dancer, but despite a few bars in the middle, it wasn't an AT and the AT they did didn't have the sharpness in the kicks and flicks that I would expect. 40 was way over the top but then DWTS looks excessively OTT anyway and I'm not surprised Bruno was going all guns for it. It would be a solid 8 over here with Len getting grumpy about it not being right and giving it a 6

And me applauding him for trying to keep some sense of integrity and authenticity.

The video says Tango, may it's a Tango.

No harm in having different videos in the MF, it's still dancing and the title says it's from DWTS. I posted it here, so people like me who don't watch DWTS or visit that forum
can watch the video. Love it or not, it's different.”

In fact watching this clip just makes me appreciate SCD all the more Maybe the OP actually belongs in the "Isn't Strictly Great- I'm Really Enjoying It" thread joking

Laurie Hernandez and yes like aggs says she won team gold and beam silver. Its pretty much hers to lose. Not only is she is a great dancer but she is extremely likable; add that to being a " national hero " (just like Simone Biles is for example) : killer combination. This season of dwts is pretty much hers to lose. Val her pro partner has been known to fluque on freestyles so many times so the other front runners still have a chance (meaning if they deliver a KILLER freestyle in the finale and Val falters, she will lose; Never forget what happened with his celebrity in season 16) but I would say that at the moment she has a great chance of winning.

LOL Gleb doesnt stand a chance; besides Laurie they are 2 men giving her a run for her money. He might not even reach the quarters or semi with his celebrity. They are too many big celebrities and likable partnerships than his this year.

Wanted to watch it...I lasted 30 seconds...her feet were annoying me...the choreography was great in what I saw but her feet position was rubbish! And it just made me think that Anita was seriously hard done by last year - great choreography but no refinement on the basics.

That is not AT. It does not even resemble one. Everything is wrong about it. It's about as subtle as a wet fish slapped in your face. Ugh!

Dear Gleb - all flash and no class - and terrible choreography.

Of course he'll have fans - his obvious 'good looks' will enthrall some. Shame he has to butcher dances to get noticed!

This is show tango -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuW7oUbf4t4

I never understood the Gleb love in

If he was the one to make that routine it just reminded me that I felt a lot of his routines last year were rather, dare I say, tacky.

Len would hate it. He objected to Gleb's crutch in Anita's face during their salsa, so who knows what he would have made of the reversal in this dance?!?
