The Great Corrie Storm - May 2017
If you don't like idea posts press your back button now!
I've come up with an idea for Britain's Got Talent week in 2017 on Coronation Street. I wrote out full detailed spoilers for fun then realised how happy I was with the concept so thought I'd post them here but in stages.I thought it would be fun to follow the same procedure as the Press Office, so I'll start with the brief 3-line spoilers, before releasing the full, detailed spoilers in the next week or so. If people like it, I might even write the episodes themselves! ![]() I think Corrie is due a big week for BGT which actually delivers some dynamite community drama and plot climaxes. This is my idea for what would be billed as 'The Great Corrie Storm', with the 5 episodes set over one night and sending plots hurtling to a massive climax. Here are the early spoilers for the week! They don't give too much away (I hope) but put it this way, life will never be the same on't Cobbles! More detailed spoilers to follow, ahead of the full episodes (if people want.)Monday 22nd May, 9pm Bad weather won’t stop the Rovers partygoers. Vinnie prepares for his great escape. Todd breaks Billy’s heart with Daniel. Tuesday 23rd May, 9pm Distraught Billy walks into trap. Jack disappears before Kevin’s eyes. The storm causes the power to fail across Weatherfield. Wednesday 24th May, 9pm Hysteria in the blackout. Titans clash in a devastating fight. Faye puts herself in grave danger. Thursday 25th May, 9pm As the storm intensifies, discoveries lead to horror. Emergency services descend on the street. The old guard reminisce. Friday 26th May, 9pm Has the storm claimed another victim? Todd’s guilt sends him to despair. Audrey and Freddie finally unite. Coming soon: Press release and full spoilers! |

Love it! Especially the idea of a natural disaster on Corrie.

This week of episodes idea brings the Vinnie/Phelan scam plot to a climax, and forms huge plot twists there to start the next arc; brings the Michelle baby plot to a head; sends Todd careering down a new dark path; and sends Kevin and Anna (and their families) into danger, chaos and difficult repercussions. This story idea also allows for the 'rallying community' feel, with candlelit scenes in the Rovers. The full spoilers I've written I'm so happy with, I will post them later. For now... The Sun article CORONATION Street viewers are preparing for some of the most dramatic scenes in the show's 57-year history this month, as the show airs a week of episodes bosses have promised they will never forget. Billed as 'The Great Corrie Storm', the ITV soap has reportedly shelled out over £1.5m on the blockbuster episodes which will see THREE characters die. Doctor Who director Graeme Harper - who worked on the show's iconic tram crash episodes - has returned to the show to oversee the "apocalyptic" scenes, which took nearly four weeks to film. A dedicated team of special effects experts oversaw the spectacular scenes, which were shot over 20 gruelling night shoots. The storyline called for two mobile wind and rain machines to provide the storm effects for the episodes. Each of the massive machines held TWO TONNES of water, soaking the cast and crew for weeks on end. Boss Kate Oates teased the scenes last month, saying "we know Michelle is about to give birth to her baby but still is unaware Steve's already got a newborn with Leanne, while Vinnie is preparing to disappear with all the money from the building scam. We've got some episodes coming up we're so proud of, which bring all of these stories together, and more, in quite spectacular fashion - viewers are in for a treat!" It has been announced THREE characters will perish in the episodes, but their identities have been kept a closely guarded secret from viewers. Extra security measures have been put in place to protect the outcome of the scripts. A trailer will premiere this Friday on television and in cinemas, while billboard, bus and tube advertising is already promoting the landmark week of episodes. A Corrie source said: "The cast and crew are so excited for these episodes to air. The scale is enormous and the drama is off the scale. Viewers are going to be stunned." Coronation Street airs these scenes every night of the week from Monday 22nd May at 9PM. Coming soon: Press release and full spoilers! |

I think if you'd do something like this, It'd be beter to keep how many casualties there are secret. Otherwise viewers are constantly expecting a death is imminent.
Also I think The Great Corrie Storm almost sounds a bit like a parady and also reminds me too much of The Vicar Of Dibley episode The Window an the Weather. |

Also I think The Great Corrie Storm almost sounds a bit like a parady and also reminds me too much of The Vicar Of Dibley episode The Window an the Weather. The death count would be trailed in the papers and trailers to drum up hype ahead of the episodes and make people know it's definitely not just a standard 'throwaway stunt with no deaths'. The victims themselves would be tightly under wraps - from the spoilers can you guess who perishes? Give it a go. There would be absolute secrecy beyond what has been posted above. Also I agree to an extent with the name but again it's just a little bit of marketing. Perhaps "The Great Storm of Weatherfield" would be good too. Thanks for your thoughts H!

I'm guessing that we see the end of Izzy, Vinnie (Todd kills him) and Billy is the one who makes a sacrifice.

You're quoting a weather article from The Express, oh the irony.
Oh and 'flash' flooding is just that, not a storm. You're being nasty and troll like. Storms can happen at any time of year. End of! How about this from the BBC from June: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36603508 speaking about how the "London Fire Brigade said it had attended more than 400 incidents, including properties hit by lightning" Or this from the BBC again in July: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33360867 talking about "up to 40,000 properties in the north-east were left without power after the violent storms struck" Additionally in 2012 there was a poor major weather spell as a result of poor weather in April, May and June with several storms and a lot of damage, flooding and destruction. Indulge yourself on the full timeline of the weather systems which killed "at least 9" and caused £1bn of damage here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_G...Ireland_floods Why don't you leave me alone instead of treating me with derision and contempt? |

Storms are extremely rare in May. A soap would look foolish to base major storylines around an incongruous seasonal event. It would however be plausible at this time of year......if that makes you feel better. |

If you can't handle responses to your fan fiction, I suggest you don't post them in the future.
Storms are extremely rare in May. A soap would look foolish to base major storylines around an incongruous seasonal event. It would however be plausible at this time of year......if that makes you feel better. ![]() Here's yet another article referencing a 'Supercell Storm' in May 2012. "The storm, thought to be an unusual “supercell” storm, travelled through the south Midlands, bringing rain, large hailstones, and a tornado in Oxfordshire." http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012...n_1497995.html Either dispute this article and the 4 that precede it and prove storms in spring and summer have happened and do happen, or leave the thread alone. Heaven forbid, you could comment on the story idea rather than simply the fact it centres around a storm. Even if storms didn't happen in May time (and they have, and do) this is a fictional idea for a genre that features tram crashes, plane crashes, murders and more in heightened fictional towns and villages, so it would get away with it. |

Nope. I've provided you with 4 links now which clearly show storms can and do happen in the spring, and have done. You have disregarded them because you are a bully.

I'm not disputing they happened, I'm merely citing that events of this nature are rare at that time of year. What it is it you're struggling to understand here, and why are you confusing it with bullying behaviour?
And surely the story idea centers around a storm, hence the title of your thread ![]() Also don't think I didn't notice you selective-quoting me removing the facts from my reply!! Events of the nature are rare... um... that was never in dispute.Have storms in May happened? Yes. Are storms in May rare? Yes, relatively. Does that mean it they are out of the realms of possibility? No. On that basis, would a storm storyline in May be acceptable? Yes. Would it matter anyway in a genre that has featured snow on Christmas Day? No. Your argument is flimsy as hell and it's just weird you've gone in on me for coming up with an idea, purely because it focuses on a storm in May which you don't think ever happens. I've proven it does and you've conceded by stating the obvious and saying it's rare. Well hint hint, soaps regularly have events and happenings which would be rare in real life. |

Some excellent ideas there James! Both of the storms that have featured on Emmerdale (2003/04 and 2013) have been excellent. A storm is such a great stunt idea, as it adds more dramaticness ( ) to the scenes and overall atmosphere of the episodes. Quote:
