What is your Emmerdale favourite time/era of all time? 70s,80s,90s,2000s or 2010s?

My favourite Emmerdale time/era of all time is 90s! Because it has in my opinion so brilliant storylines/characters. It has plane crash, post office robbery, so many else brilliant storylines too and of course all Kim's storylines(Her affairs were brilliant and her fight with Frank was perfect.) And we had Amos, Mr Wiks, Alan, Seth, Sudgens,Eric, Tates, Dingles and many more!

I don't have a favourite era. I either like an episode or I don't, regardless of the era.

Well other people are likely to identify good eras and bad eras, hence the thread. Your contribution is quite limited and not really offering much to the thread other than to infer it shouldn't have been created.

I haven't watched for all of it but the Sadie King era was brilliant (her exit episode with Cain, the helicopter and faking of her death etc) and I loved the time with Zoe Tate's exit with the blowing up of Home Farm as she watched from her car. I think ED was firing off all cylinders in this era. Don't forget that bus crash which killed off Butch too !

Also think the storm of 2003 was amazing for the show, and the Cameron climax with the Woolpack siege/storm was another high point. Other than that, the plane crash was a huge point in the history garnering massive figures.

I also remember stuff with Kim Tate and also Kathy and Dave with the car going off the cliff and so on, as well as Sarah Sugden's death in the barn.

Those eras stand out to me, but I've never been a superfan so more dedicated fans will be able to even more clearly define the high points.

90s Tates era in particular, 2000s. In truth it was the last of the big three that I got into but its my favourite now. Funny how things evolve over time

Charming. The question is what era do you like best. I said I don't go by eras - you know, just answering the question that was asked. I certainly didn't infer that the thread shouldn't have been created, Mr Arrogant.

For me there are two golden era's the mid 90's (1993-1998) and mid 2000's (2004-2007).
90's - I've watched many episodes on youtube and obviously Kim was the highlight, but every character was believable and different and the storylines were intriguing, there was a huge community feel and it had the right balance of drama and comedy.

2000's - when I first began watching. The kings were amazing (Sadie's entrance, Charity's Exit, Showhome disaster, Tom's kidnap, Tom's murder, Jimmy and Kelly's failed wedding), The windsors/hopes (Viv and paddys affair, Scott almost being killed by zoe, kelly's return, the viv/bob/donna/marlon double wedding and Dawn's death), Steph's reign of terror (drugging Alan and trying to commit suicide with him, driving Shelly out of the village but thinking she'd murdered her, pushing shelly of the ferry, terrence's death and her trial). Other highlights such as Zoe's exit, Roberts exit, Alice's death, Emily running off with Sarah and then her return, and of course Jebbie. So many exciting stories, would love Kathleen Beedles to come back to emmerdale one day

93 - 2003 Kim Tate, the dingles were hilarious back then, loved the glovers and the reynalds
2008 - 2011 loved the wildes, eve/Carl/chas love triangle, the woman that stalked ashley, jasmine killing the policeman

The 90's without a doubt when the Tates reigned and Kim was queen bee at home farm! I think the show also retained enough of the "Emmerdale Farm" vibe in the 90's also.

I did also enjoy the Wylde era- I think they were the best home farm family after the Tates.

Yes, those two, without question. Kathleen Beedles was amazing. Very talented weaver of stories.

The 70s for me, when it was Emmerdale Farm.
It was mainly about the Sugdens then and I had a bit of a thing for Frazer Hines. I was young!
The best thing, though, was that there were no Dingles back then.

emmerdale has always been rather inconsistent, it can be rather dull one moment but brilliant within a few episodes.

so i dont think there was one 'good' era, its had its ups and downs throughout its run.

I've always dipped in and out of Emmerdale but I watched pretty religiously between 2003-2006ish. I used to love Steph Stokes but even though she got a couple of big storylines I always felt she was criminally underused in between. So I would probably have to say the Noughties. One of my favourite episodes ever was when Carl was revealed as Tom's killer and Len Reynolds died. The scene where Pearl said goodbye to him sticks in my mind, then Edna struggling as his body was carried away with Katherine Jenkins singing. Marvellous stuff.

My memory is a bit fuzzy but wasn't 1999-2003 when a lot of the big things happened- Butch's death, killer graham, charity and cain arrival, charity and chris, zoe and charity, cain and angie, lady tara and affair with sean, bernice and ashley, bernice Carlos affair, kims exit, Chris's death, sarah sugden's death
I looked some of these up

Blimey, when you put it like that, maybe the whole period was pretty damn good. I loved all the Bernice/Ashley stuff, and Zoe/Charity.

I just think iconic times like Kim's and the Kings really stand out.

1990s as it had a mix of its past with proper farm stories, but also the Tates brought it into the present and glammed it up. Virtually all the characters were good. There were lots of stories going on. Some happy, some sad, comedy, drama as well as a good mix of old and young.

1995-1996 was my ultimate favourite. There were only a couple of characters I did not like during these years - and I can't even remember who they were now?

Things started to slide significantly as the show went to 3 times a week in 1997 and 5-6 times a week in the 2000s. The naughties were good, but because of the sheer volume of episodes, the show naturally became more hit and miss because of the need for filler episodes. Everything has to be virtually real time now. The writers can no longer jump a head like they could when it was only 2-3 times a week.
