Can't argue with that! They both played it really well.

I agree it was great. James and Emma's episode was like the film "Misery" with a touch of "The War of the Roses" thrown in for extra effect.

I did find it hard to believe that none of their sons would visit, no matter how much their mum tried to put them off, but then I suppose that would take away from the story.

(I was impressed by how nifty James was with his broken leg though, and also how Emma managed to get him downstairs and dressed, when he was unconscious).

I think its been a bit underwhelming tbh , i liked yesterdays but i was hoping from a bit more tension from Pierce , and tonights was just daft , i think only the acting from Gillian Kearney saved the episode from being completely hilarious for the wrong reasons for me

I liked it tonight, despite posting earlier that the show needs a break from sensationalism. It was enjoyably surreal and the two actors were great. I could pick a few holes in it (James's sons would've insisted on seeing him by now and not been easily turned away especially given they know Emma's a bit strange, Emma's going from being a bit off-kilter to full on nuts for this storyline) but it was an entertaining half hour so why bother? It really showed up the lacklustre efforts on Monday and Tuesday.

I still don't think the POV device has been a success overall given 2 out of 3 eps have been a borefest.

Tonight's with Emma and James was the best so far! The other 2 were abit sh*t tbh! Aaron's was bit boring, the Paddy in the woods was stupid. Don't know why they made it into comedy when it's supposed to be a sad week, Emma and James have pulled it off tonight, fantastic acting!! Felt like I was watching a film!

I think the episodes are done in different styles but still having a disaster feel to them.

Aaron and Robert - romance
Rhona, Pierce, paddy, marlon - comedy
Emma and James - thriller
Ashley and laurel - sadness / drama

Idon't know if Robert meant 'leathered' as physical or just a verbal attackbut I'm not treating it as too much of a smear on Jack.

The production values are so high though, the cinematography is stunning with the episodes having a beautiful visual feel. I'm loving the way it's edited and it's something different seeing scenes overlap from different perspectives. The scenes on the road at the end of the episode are tautly edited and shot with various other cars visible subtly, and I think it's overall been very smartly done.

I'm enjoying it, though last night's did lack the punch it could have had with all the stupid comedy scenes - but some people love the double act of Paddy and Marlon and it looks like tonight's episode will be gripping and Ashley's devastating - while the stunt I think will be spectacularly epic.”

I think he meant it as a physical attack. I was brought up in Yorkshire and "leathering" meant a good thrashing with a leather belt.
It was still a slur on Jacks character though.

I really enjoyed tonight's ep, best of the week so far

I absolutely love Emmerdale but I must admit that I found tonight's to be bordering ridiculous!! Emma is a great character but she's too far gone now to really be taken seriously in future and I'd be sad to see her go but I do think she'll be a casualty.

Gillian Kearney is a great actress but I've never been that convinced of her performance as a nut job.

I've loved this week, Tuesday's dragged a little but overall it's proven once again why Emmerdale is superior to other soaps these days.

Tonight's has been the best by a country mile so far. Last night's wasn't great and Monday's was atrocious.

It really has been a week specifically designed to appeal to a social media crowd.

No surprise - given the voting is currently open for the NTA's

I'm more interested to see how they deal with the aftermath to the stunt.

Yeah, Friday onwards is what I'm looking forward to but we also have the Charity crap next week where she finds herself at a cliff top...

Yup me too I love Emma and was really looking forward to tonight's but it was too daft even for Emmerdale standards and Emmerdale this week standards

Really sad that it is no doubt Emma that will die as there isn't really any way back for her now. Would much prefer James to go but still I loved Monday's offering I know I'm in the minority but really thought it was a great job at explaining Robert and finally showing Robert and Aaron as a proper and realistic couple.

BiB : I think that entirely depends on whether we happen to like the featured characters though. Personally I loathed Monday, liked Tues and totally loved tonight, (and I suspect I'll love tomorrow too). Other people love Robron, hate Paddy or hate James etc etc and that's as it should be. They're never going to please all of the people all of the time.

Christ, not this again.

Yes, we get it, Jack was now a violent homophobic thug and Bobby is a poor ickle Victim. Cos that's what's needed to feed the fans.

Let's move on.

Sadly C&S - we can't move until we all bow down to the fanfiction retcon and say my god what a wonderful idea that was.
It explains everything about poor wee Roberts behaviour since he came back.

Sorry folks - it was a cheap fanfic infused plot device
I will never buy into it - and I will continue to condemn the show for making up a history that was never (I repeat NEVER) included in the characters storylines at the time.

So fangirls & boys - flame me all you like

People saying Emma will have to go as there is no way back for her- well, if James goes, no one else knows how crazy she got- she could easily slip away and play the grieving (almost) wife part and no one would know ( at least not for a while)

I think the episode made it clear James is a gonna- the start where he was falling through mist- looking terrified- only to land on the floor of his bedroom- clearly he is also going to fall/get pushed down that slope and into the road.

This did occur to me but I wondered what on earth the explanation would be for James being near the road Still it's not like Emmerdale really care about realism I certainly hope you are right though.

Well the episode ended with James and Emma standing at the top of a slope by the roadside just before the crash time.
