Who actually likes the cheesy training videos we see on Strictly now

I would never understand why they came up with these silly vts they're so cringeworthy . What annoys me the most is that it takes up contestants precious training time !!!!! Some of them don't even have enough training time to spare and yet they have to film these stupid vts . Does anyone remember Patrick's injury ? That wouldn't have happened if him and Anya were quietly rehearsing in their training room but yet they had to film another stupid vt that resulted in his injury that week !!!!!

Safe it to say that I can't stand these " training vts".

I didn't say developing friendships! Some of the best training videos I recall were the ones where the pro and celeb had a spat.

well I must be on my own, because I want the dance to be a surprise, and 30 seconds or what ever of them practicing it would for me spoil that surprise.. ok most of the VT's are pretty awful but some are quite good

The VT's are by far my least favourite part of the show. They're the equivalent of a commercial break which is great if you need the toilet, or want a drink.

I only care for the live parts including Tess's links and Claudia's banter. Even last weekends random barbershop quartet was better than the VT's.

You're right and they couldn't even harmonise properly.

This how close harmony used to be done and they were competent professional musicians too.

Funny enough I timed one of these "videos" on Saturday and it ran to 15 seconds short of 4 minutes. times that by 12 and that's almost an hour padding...

Ore closing his eyes and opening them "at wembley" was as bad as it got

I enjoyed watching Mick Jagger. I don't like the Husbands and the kids VT, so
sickening.

I remember back in the day when we saw quite a bit of the training. It was much more interesting than the rubbish we are inflicted with nowadays.

I was interested in training when I didn't know how good each celebrity was but now on which level each can dance the training videos are a waste of time. I don't want all this this XFactor style false jeopardy - Will they be alright on the night? stuff.

They are completely not fair on the poorer dancers who get shown loads of bad dancing, worn out and stressed. Which doesn't represent their personality or their final dance.

Whereas the good dancers could have 3 minutes of happy fun people which the struggling dancers won't get to show if they just focused on training.

One example people were criticising Naga as a person just from in training whereas she was able to show more of a personality when out of training.

Totally understandable. It's a daft idea to spoil the dance.

It is like watching Stars in The Eyes and the surprise when they come out and they sound just like the singer.
It would totally ruin it if some bright sparks comes along and says what is needed is training videos where the audience can hear them before they do their performance to see if they are any good.

I do think watching some of the training on It take Two has spoiled some of the dances for me so I'm glad they hardly show anything before the dance on the main show.
eg. I knew how fast Lesley was moving in the quickstep prior to the dance and would have liked the surprise on the night instead.

I hadn't seen much of Ore's Jiving before their dance and it was so much better for me as it was a really nice surprise.

Yes but people are thinking in the old days, it was four minutes of training and it wasn't.

I've checked old videos and it was a minute and a half maximum of training footage which included chatting about the previous week.

These trips out are more of an addition on the end of the minute in the training room to lengthen the section or "padding" as you put it.

I dunno, I'm quite enjoying Ore & Jo's weekly visits to sport-related London landmarks. Where will they go this week?

Joking. I wish the comedy VTs would die a very quick death, but my pessimistic side says we're stuck with them so if you don't already have one, invest in a DVR.

I find them ridiculous. So in order to get in character for a couple of minutes dance they've got to go and waste half a day or more pretending to be a sailor, conductor, farmer etc. or bring in guests or family members who obviously say how great they are.
Even worse are the comedy bits in the training room with props or "special effects"
Just show them actually training, not everyone watches ITT.

As I've mentioned on other threads before, any adult with IQ higher than a banana is unlikely to find these VT's in the least entertaining, but they are here to stay because TPTB believe them to be instrumental in getting children to watch the show.

The rationale behind this is presumably that Strictly can then be labeled a 'family show'. Why this should be considered important enough to inflict umpteen minutes of puerile rubbish on us every week is beyond me.

No they are complete rubbish, and they are there rightly or wrongly for those people, who somehow get some satisfaction out of them. Which in my opinion can't be many - Unless X-Factor isn't clashing.

They are awful but they aren't aimed at us lot.

I'd rather lose props and scenery.

But I think if they show the training from day one, it is almost impossible to spoil it as it looks nothing like the final dance and also shows how far the dance has progressed over the week of training.

They may be an addition but they are still awful. Most of the pro dancers cannot act, so it is cringeworthy to watch. If they are going to spend 4 mins, make it a good 4 mins, not fast forward worthy!

One thing I did l learn from it is the fact that pasha ( bless his heart ) is a terrible, terrible actor . His comedy vts over the years have been especially bad . All the pros are bad but he cannot act at all

I'd settle for less of the trivia and more pro dances.
And save us from Donny Osmond on ITT on Friday and on the Sunday show.

hate them

ok maybe 1 or 2 a week makes me smile but mostly its just cringey. Why can't we see them doing something real? Doesn't have to be dancing tho I don't mind seeing previews of the routine. If any of the cheesy stuff really helps the celebs then ok but hard to see how it does.

like all the stuff with their kids coming in to suprise them, did they not see them this morning?

How about Katya & Gavin. "I'm feeling sexy" - "Good for you"
"That was sweet, because you've never flirted with me" - "Get over yourself"
I miss Katya

Very good point and exactly what I use them for
