"Diva" isn't homophobic, it's a term used for any male or female person who throws a bit of a strop. Stop getting "all sensitive" on behalf of someone on the telly.

He'd be better just saying why he left. He could easily give a reason without going into detail. By being so vague, he's encouraged public and media speculation.

He did give a reason. It was perfectly clear to me. He said it was for personal reasons. That's all anyone who is not personally affected by his decision needs to know. (That's people like you and me... and everyone else on here.)

He hasn't "encouraged" anything of the sort. The speculation has arisen because certain sectors of the media chose to create and perpetuate it. It's not his duty to refute inane speculation.

He hasn't given a reason. Just a vague soundbite that gives no indication as to why he left. I have no idea why he couldn't have just done what everyone else who's left the show during a series has done, and given a reason. There's no need to go into detail, just give a reason and leave it at that.

It's not Will's duty to refute speculation, but given that other people have been dragged into it, I'd hope that he would see fit to refute the speculation regarding these other people (easy to do via a tweet or release of a statement). Surely that's common decency. As it is, they've been left to defend themselves, which isn't fair.

Why didn't Will go on It Takes Two with Karen to discuss his decision to drop out of the competition? He has performed a live concert since leaving, but why hasn't he and Karen been interviewed? Why hasn't he elaborated on his reason for dropping out - is it too much to ask?

It is too much to ask if he is suffering from depression or other mental health issues.

Why wouldn't he have been invited? Is that not standard practice? Or had relations deteriorated too much to make that possible? I certainly wouldn't dismiss some of the speculation, because it does seem consistent with the turn of events since his departure.

In his very first statement Will made it clear that he and Karen had a special and very happy relationship. He has since retweeted her tweet calling the press liars. It's not his fault the press are like hyenas circling around him for some sort of kill, braying that he hasn't given them what they want and making up bear faced lies given by unverified 'sources'. How come people on here are wanting to kick him and not the press for the impact on others in Strictly?

Do you really think it appropriate that Will goes on ITT and announces his 'personal' reasons for leaving. Get real!

I remember John Sergeant going on ITT, but then he also called a press conference to announce his departure. Perhaps Will felt that was a tad pompous. Who knows?

I don't remember Kelly Brook going on, but that could just be a failure of my memory.

He could at least have said goodbye, which seems the polite thing to do.

It really says a lot about people who are willing to take the word of the gutter press over actual quotes from Karen, Darcey and Craig. They'll dig up more unnamed fictitious inside sources when they've finished hounding Will and move onto their next celeb character assassination.

He said it's personal. That is his reason. It may be that that involves another person nothing to do with Strictly and completely out of the lime light. It's not up to Will to make them the subject of tabloid headlines just to satisfy the curiosity of the viewers or pacify a judge. Karen has done all she can to stop the rumours but if folk are determined not to believe her, then I can't see anything Will has to say changing things.

It's got naff-all to do with Craig whether he comes back or not. The BBC won't have him back as a competitor. He's proved to be unreliable for whatever reason.

No good bangin' on about Will needing to explain more than he's already said, it's too late now and if he doesn't want to, that's the end of it.

A nonsensical repeat of a ridiculous reply.

When I played the SIMS, I remember it taking half an hour of SIMS time for the character to get out of bed after the alarm clock went off. Depression is like that - or worse. It can be a struggle to even do the basics in life, let alone train hard each week for a public performance.

From the fact that he isn't getting his full fee, I am guessing that Will either agreed to do that because he felt bad about dropping out, or he gave a woolly excuse rather than a full, doctor's note reason for dropping out.

But, as someone who has struggled with both depression and anxiety, I know that it can make you behave in a way that seems unreasonable from the outside. I don't believe that he dropped out because he didn't think he could win. He's been around the music scene long enough to know that it's not all about who has the best singing voice. He'll know that Strictly isn't necessarily about who is the best dancer.

Whatever the reason behind him leaving, I wish him well, and I hope that Karen doesn't get blamed for it by the press, who are despicable. I really wish that the government had cracked down on them being able to lie and slander people with impunity, because they definitely take full advantage of it to sell papers.

Has Will now confirmed that the reason he left is depression? I don't think he has. In which case why assume he is depressed? He has said nothing of the sort, and has declared himself "dandy".
Yes, it's possible he has depression. It's also possible that he simply got tired of the show. That he fell out with other people on the show. That he suffers from a weak bladder and feared an embarrassing public accident. That he developed an allergy to sequins and man-made fibres.
Until such time as Will states his reason for going (if he ever decides to do such a thing) it seems rather presumptuous to declare him depressed and defend his right not to talk about a condition that we don't actually know he has.
