Disagree, rather have this Gail than the simpering, comedic moron.

I thought Gail was great tonight. We need to see more of this Gail than the one who is trying to be a Comedian

I thought she was good tonight. A lot better than simpering Gail.
However locking David in the cellar is a stupid idea. He's suicidal and could easily smash a bottle and slash his wrists. The safest thing would be to let the police deal with it. He obviously needs professional help and has been through a trauma (even though he did get on with life after it and this desire to kill himself is a recent thing; typical Corrie plotting, not saying he hasn't struggled but it wasn't this level) so I'm sure there would be some leniency with the focus mainly on getting David better since he hasn't carried out his plan yet. |

I thought she was great tonight, the story is gripping, poor David.

She's simply divine when they get her character right. Her entire reaction to Sarah-Lou's teenage pregnancy back in 2000 for example, was some of the best acting I seen from a soap.

Maybe it's because I havent watched for a while but I found her acting to be forced and unconvincing.
Good people enjoyed it though, and Gail is being improved under Kate Oates. |

Anything has to be better than her character portrayal over the last few years.

Gail was also fantastic during in the 90's with her feuds with Ivy and Leanne (over Nick) as well and during those times was much better than her poor recent years. I couldn't image the recent poor Gail over the last few years going up against Richard Hillman. She's been getting back to the old Gail though since the Nick/Carla wedding reception with her support over Nick, Sarah, Bethany, Max and David in recent times I hope it continues. |

I thought she was great. I love how her and David's relationship is so complex, they've been so much as a mother and son but she still loves him so much.

I agree but I'd wish she'd tell Martin what is happening.

I'm surprised at this! Everyone in our house commented on how good Gail was tonight and how refreshing it's been to see her at her best, as a matriarch!
I was FUMING when they stuck her back with Michael but there's been absolutely no simpering and daft comedy moments between them. I still can't abide Michael but both he and Gail are much more likeable under Oates. IMO of course |

She's fine, it's not like she is Tracey bad. Maybe it doesn't help that she's surrounded by better actors in her family unit, David and Sarah have either massively improved in the last year or so or they haven't been given a good chance to show off their skills in years.

I absolutely HATED the character when she returned from Milan, she was one dimensional, nasty and generally unlikeable so I'm glad to see a softer more motherly figure now. |

I agree, I think that Sarah especially has really surprised me since the live episode where Callum attached her. She's been great.

That was also the Sarah in the last year or so in her original stint, she really changed into some bimbo after everything she went through it was so silly. The woman she is now though is the one you'd imagine she'd be in her earlier years.
I pretty much loathed the whining self obsessef whingebag who left for Milan in 2007 & REALLY didn't want her back and when she first returned she was AWFUL!!!! Now she is one of my favourite characters & it all seemed to stem from that live episode when Tina O'Brien acted everyone else off the set!! Mr Blackburn seemed to realise that was the Sarah we should be seeing a lot more of & since then she's never looked back!! Regarding Gail, haven't seen tonight's episode yet but she's been excellent by & large since Kate Oates took over, almost getting back to her old self!! |

This was from a few years ago, she is wonderful when she puts David in his place. |
