It's so weird that people are "shocked" most people swear all the time and I bet a lot of kids hear far worse from their own parents!

It's hardly worthy of comment.

People on twitter being outraged over something so trivial, what's new it's a daily occurrence.

It was perfectly relevant to the scene, I didn't find it shocking, it fitted the scene perfectly, this man has his life in tatters, he is broken, and it made the scene feel more realistic.

Some people really need to grow up. Oh no, swearing before the watershed, its the end of the world ITV haven't breached any OFCOM rules in having PG rated language before 9pm, they relaxed the rules on that ages ago. The BBC have been showing PG rated films uncut after 7pm for a while now. In fact, I remember when the BBC were daring and showed an episode of Bread in the afternoon with the word 'shit' left in, and they are the only terrestrial channel in the UK (that I'm aware of) to show Flash Gordon uncut in the daytime.

But in the long run, society has changed, people attitudes towards swearing has changed, you hear worse from kids these days. I really don't understand why people are still shocked at this language which has been used for centuries.

I distinctly remember Carla calling Tony one when she went to visit him in prison and Frankie also calling Danny one after his affair with Miss Leanne was revealed. David isn't the first Corrie character to use the word. Its use here wasn't gratuitous and fitted the intense nature of the scene perfectly.

Haven't they used 'bastard' before? I'm sure Carla Connor said it to Frank and maybe, Tony. Although, maybe those episodes aired after 9pm? I don't understand why some people get upset about a bad word but don't bat an eyelash at people being murdered, kidnapped or raped.

Bastard is a very minimal swear word. I don't even count it as a swear word.

Todd also called Jason a Bastard once- it was years ago in his first stint, after he came out as gay- Sarah retaliated by sleeping with Jason and Todd found them in bed together to which Todd called him "A bastard"

Corrie's always used such language. It's only in the last 10 or so years it's gone pathetically tame.

I'm sure I've heard Angie Freeman use the phrase "balls up".

That's not a swear word

If your three year old is watching Corrie, a few swear words is the least concern.

i just dont get it, theres half naked bodies and everyone snogging on and sleeping with everyone in hollyoaks at half 6 which i never particularly liked my kids seeing when they were younger.
Soaps arent 'small child' friendly in the first place with all their screaming and shouting/stunts/murders......... such negativity in them why would people let young children watch them in the first place. Yet ONE word offends people, a word most primary school kids will of actually heard in school people need to just get a life instead of getting on the phone. As someone else posted (which i totally agree with) a swear word is your least concern if your letting very young children watch soaps .........

I know, apparently its a family programme with all the deaths, affairs, rapes and stabbings but forget that its has a family feel to it.

They should flash a helpline number up for those offended. How do they get through the day I wonder. They must live in a bubble.
