I am looking to buy a new 4K, 55inch TV

Budget is £1,000....but would like to spend less if possible.

Is this a good choice?

The difference in the prices though, I can understand between a budget and very expensive set you might get some extra quality and tech but some are just a few hundred pounds between them.

How much difference can there be and is it worth splashing out on a £1799 one or will a £1200 one do?

Any suggestions?
I've heard Sony and Samsung are the best ones to go for?

Currys online has a 10% off TV code going, ends tonight though.

TV10, not sure if it's for all models but add it in the basket to check you might save a hundred quid on one.

I can't give any suggestions because everybody has different opinions on what sort of TV's that they like.

The best advice is read as many reviews as you can and research as much as you can.

Sony and Panasonic are the best sets, with Samsung and LG next.

Word of advice:

When you find the TV that you want, check the above websites to find it cheaper and read as many reviews as you can.

John Lewis will give you a free 5 year warranty and you can also ask for advice either in store or via their help line. These forums have lots of people who buy from cheap sites and then expect forum members to help them set them up, the idea that they should read any instructions seems to be an anathema to them. Modern TVs from major manufacturers seldom go wrong but repairs are expensive if they do. In my experience Sony TVs are good and reliable. Although the TV you are thinking of buying is 4K there will be no 4K on Freeview in the foreseeable future and the TV will require a STB if it ever starts as no terrestrial transmission format has been standardised for the UK. A subscription 4K channel is available from Sky and some online services.

What will the 4k tv be mainly used for ? Loads of different factors to take into account depending on what you want 4k for.

No you will be fine, you have Sky so you can upgrade to 4K with them at a later date if you want to. The BBC have announced 4K via iPlayer in the foreseeable future but you will probably need a fibre connection for that.
