For me it is no contest, the most influential, innovative artists who have been consistently great for over 40 years - Kraftwerk.

Pearl Jam are pretty much definately getting in. Of the others I'd be happy with Depeche Mode, ELO and Baez. Can't really comment on Joe Tex as i'm not overly familiar with his work.

Chic and Kraftwerk have been nominated many times before and they will yet again be overlooked for some awful rock or hip hop act. That Hall of Fame is a joke anyway when you look at who gets in and who is kept out.

You may well be right. Are Pearl Jam, ELO, Tupac more likely winners?

Chaka Khan. Despite nearly everyone on the list being not Rock and Roll.

Tupac and Janet Jackson are not Rock and Roll. It's a pure sign that Rock and Roll is dead

Dreadful, dreadful list.

Nothing against them as artists but this is the RNR Hall of Fame - and it is absolutely backwards for someone like Tupac, influential as he was in the RAP GENRE, to go into the ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME ahead of artists like Iron Maiden (100 million albums sold), Motorhead or Judas Priest. All of whom have been successful acts who have inspired and influenced countless others in the rock/metal world.

the rock n roll hall of fame isn't just artists who did "rock n roll", it's just comtemporary popular music. abba isn't rock n roll either. tupac isn't rock n roll and neither are iron maiden, but both acts were influential to their genres and tupac was one of the most successful and influential hip hop artists. he's released about 10 times as many albums after dying than he released when he was alive. no other artist has released a greater percentage of albums after death than they released whilst alive

they do induct a few acts each year but they could perhaps induct more. the problem is they want the inducted acts to appear in person but at this rate most of them will be dead before they get round to being inducted

Yeah, Sister Rosetta Tharpe in many ways made Rock n' Roll possible, so why she is not in there is unbelievable.

The Crystals, The Doobie Bros, Television, Love, Weather Report, Mary J. Blige, TLC, Bread, Slint, Liz Phair might be candidates.
