Solange - A Seat At The Table (Official album thread)
I had not seen a thread for this, thought I'd start one.
A Seat At The Table is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Solange, released on September 30, 2016, by Saint and Columbia Records. According to Wikipedia: Following the release of her second studio album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008), Knowles began work on her third studio album, during which she suffered a "breakdown" due to the amount of time and emotion she was putting into the recording process. While recording the album Knowles released an EP entitled True (2012) and launched her own record label named Saint Records. Writing for the album began as early as 2008, while the albums recording sessions took part from 2013 to June 2016. A really good album might I add. Is Solange finally stepping out of her sisters shadow? The pro black theme throughout the album is very endearing considering whats going on in the USA. Personal highlights: Cranes In The Sky, Don;t Touch My Hair. Don't You Wait, Don;t Wish Me Well What are your opinions on the album< |

I absolutely love this album and I'm glad Solange is finally getting the recognition she deserves! I think it's extremely powerful and I've been playing this non-stop. Cranes in the Sky is also one of my favourites. Hope this album does well over here too!

It's not the direction I wanted Solange to go in but I'm glad she is finally getting the recognition she deserves as the more talented Knowles sister.
I still adore her True EP |

Fantastic album. And i only checked it out on a whim because i was bored and it came up on a site i use and I thought "why not"
This album has really put her on the map and she bloody deserves it. I knew she would breakthrough one day. The album was released just shy of the grammy cut off date so i hope she gets award recognition. She has worked on this album for years and it sounds like an album that has been worked on for years. |

So nice to see the album reach the year end best album lists, awaiting the Vinyl for Christmas. Anyone know whether it is eligible for the Grammys?

Yes it is, It was released a day before the cut off date. I am confident it will dominate the r&b categories.

It should dominate every category and if there's any justice, Solange will end up with more Grammy awards than her sister in time

I don't think she got a single nod. And looking at the nominees fur album of the year it's a crime. Maybe next year 😩

The grammys are like the oscars. They lose credibility more and more each year
It isn't about quality. It's just about who is current or not. |
