Why should Rhona feel she has to lie to Pearce about this? Paddy is Leo's dad (i know not biologically) , so he should be at his sons play. I also assume the first comment was written before last night's episode when Peirce was going to leave a very badly injured Paddy in the car. Al;so have you wondered WHY Tess wanted to have an affair? maybe its because Peirce is very controlling..... great actor though. I remember him in corrie a few years back when Suranne Jones was also in corrie”

I think that Rhona was looking to move on from Paddy as quickly as possible, probably (as you also point out) to punish him, but also to prove to herself that she wasn't going to take him back and she wasn't the mug that Paddy made her out to be by doing what he did.

In that mindset she could have latched onto anyone, but lucky for her, Pierce had her in his sights and she walked right into his trap.

I also thought that Pierce was probably abusive toward Tess which led her to stray but as others have pointed out, he felt comfortable enough to leave her for days on end while he worked away thus giving her the opportunity to shag about with our Paddeh so if he did try to manipulate and control her, he wasn't doing a very good job!! I therefore can't workout whether he is just generally quite nasty or if he is solely seeking revenge on Paddy because of Tess.

I've never warmed to Pierce, I find him really smarmy and generally unlikeable but I don't think he's reached his peak of psycho-ness just yet so could have some mileage left in him!! Given that he rescued Rhona she could now become even more infatuated and reliant on him, which would serve his plan well!

I don't know about Pierce yet, there's not really a lot to his character just now. He does a lot of things but I don't feel as though I really know him.

The orderly house, happened all off screen and the first we saw of it was what Paddy saw, so we're supposed to find it weird.

Pierce hasn't actually done anything wholly villainous yet apart from nearly leaving Paddy in the car last night, he changed his mind last minute - something akin to the old Robert Sugden.

Whether he becomes a fully fludged villain or not really, is the question. Without Paddy to punish (if Paddy dies) what will be left of his and Rhona's relationship, besides the part where they care about each other? Which based on this weeks episodes they presumably do.

I don't "get" his character right now and I feel that in trying to build up this sense of mystery about them they have missed out on a crucial element, making him seem human.
