Request: Forum for FanFiction
There seems to have been a serious increase in the amount of fanfiction type posts - playing the producer, here's an idea type stuff - which aren't bad posts in themselves but aren't really labelled that well, leading to confusion about whether it's a real spoiler or not at first glance. There's also been a lot of campaigning to have that stuff in the games room, which sort of makes sense but there's a clear distinction between a soap game and fanfiction. Basically I'd like to ask the mods if we could have an extra sub-forum purely for soap related fanfiction and creative writing.
Posting in here won't help. Either post in the mods forum or alert your post otherwise the mods may never see your suggestion.
Edit but agree fan fiction should not be posted in the main forum. Games room is there for it already

I was going to find out if the idea had popular support, then alert them.
I think it deserves its own forum. If it had one more people might post creative work.
Seems sad to dump in the graveyard of the Games board. I'm less bothered to finish mine off now as no one will even read it. At least in a Fiction sub forum people might!

I didn't see your poll till after I posted sorry.
From previous forum experience whether something is a popular idea or not, it doesn't sway the mods if they don't have the capacity or traffic needs for it.

Agree. Very little chance the invisible mods of doom will comply. Shame as I think there's lots of creative ideas on here!
I like the idea of a fanfic forum, I enjoy writing fanfiction and reading other people's
I think its a great idea. They have a fan fiction forum on Walford Web and its always active. I love reading them. I'm sure a one on DS will do just as well.
I'm sorry but can you imagine the robron fanfiction

Or the Johnny the Steven stuff

all the more reason to vote yes!!!
Filled full of the sexual fantasies of Robron and Joven fans, sounds like a plan
Shove it in the games sub forum.
If we can get some more votes on this we have a better chance.

I can't but I wouldn't have to see it either
I'd happily vote for a fanfiction forum!!
Enjoying James J's ideas & was an avid reader of Chrissy2005's Coronation Street when he was doing it even though it was tucked away in the games room!! It was 50 times the quality of the real thing at the time!!
This section of the forum is to discuss actual soaps, not write and make up stories. There's a games room for that.
My first reaction was 'Oh dear sweet Jesus no'. So I guess that's a no then.

It's not really a game though it's a hobby and somewhere to post ideas.
There is no
"No thanks some nonsense people should just keep to themselves rather than bore others with it" option so I couldn't vote.

So much negativity about a legitimate form of writing.

Any writing is legitimate and gives great pleasure to those who engage in or with it. But there's already a place in the Games Room for fanfiction/creative writing and the relatively few people who are interested in reading it know where to find it. The very fact that everyone hates their particular thread being moved over there or into 'Chatter' ("where no one will read it" - I wonder why

) shows that it's of very limited interest to the vast majority of Soap fans, so why should they have it inflicted on them in the main Soap discussions forum? Heaven knows there are enough crap threads to scroll through in here already.
It can't hurt, can it?
I wouldn't class fan-fiction as 'games' but I do agree it clutters up the main forum. If there was a specific area, then there'd be absolutely no confusion. There's obviously a call for it. I'd use it. In fact I'd come on the forum a lot more if there was a specific area for it. I rarely come on here anymore to chat but this would certainly bring me in. But then, that's just me.

If creative writing wasn't buried under 10 constantly updating "Change one letter of a soap character's name" threads, they'd have more exposure.
As The Queen Vic said above, a dedicated subform for creative writing and ideas would give the medium more exposure, where now it's essentially a graveyard in the games room which is filled with fun stuff and games.
