It wasn't ripping off 'Misery' but paying homage to it. Emmerdale has been paying homage to a few horror movies over the past few years.

Holly's story was brilliant, but incredibly sad - an addict who just could not kick her habit.

If they make it a crazy murder story, they'll have completely trashed it.

Yes she can be bat crazy when hurt or threatened, rejected but she and James were happay at that time if anythino Holly dying would drive James closer to Moray as he was Holly'so uncle so they'don't turn to each other.

It wold also undermine the truth of an addict relapsing and dying for no reason except their own addiction

Where did she get the heroin from and how could she know that Holly would overdose from it

I think just about everyone wondered at least for a moment if Emma was confessing to murder when she mentioned Holly's name in the way she did BUT when she went onto ask was she supposed to deal with terrible things the same way the wonderful Moira deals with them like Holly's death it became clear she wasn't saying she'd killed Holly. Anyway how would John's death fit in which she mentioned as well
