It has been fantastic. Corries week just doesn't come close. Maybe because David and Gail are centre stage

Nothing seems 'special' about Corrie's big week, Emmerdale have done a cracking effort.

It's always seemed Emmerdale's big week anyway - I've only seen those dancing trailers for Emmerdale

Corrie has been a reasonably run of the mill week. Yes, it's an improvement but so far nothing extraordinary and nothing like ED.

But the storylines are totally different, hardly comparable, i have enjoyed both, though obviously Emmerdale is completely unbelievable but i have suspended any realism in my head for the week.
Nothing and i mean nothing has been quite as exciting and thrilling as Eastenders though

So what lool, least it's not as desperate as Emmerdale. It's doing the most atm. My brother came down (not in to soaps but catches it when he comes down) even said what they doing now, it's every week its becoming really unrealistic, all this in a tiny, tiny village.

Unfortunately, a big pile-up on a bend on a busy road - with fog no doubt - isn't necessarily unrealistic.

Emmerdale is in danger of burning itself out though. These sensational plots are good short term but long term wise the show will be affected

The aftermath of tonight was just poor

Emmerdale fans like to say Emmerdale are the top soap a lot. Not disagreeing with you, just an observation.

Just seen in another thread that the current producer came over from Hollyoaks, which says it all really.

I wasn't talking about ratings. Both advertised big weeks. Out of the two the storylines and acting in emmerdale is far superior

I have enjoyed both soaps this week, Corrie is a little more understated, Emmer likes the big catastrophes on a regular basis, Corrie looks great tomorrow night and Emmer will probably be more subdued, well done to both soaps so far this week and great ratings

I laughed because it just shows that corrie is unbeatable on the ratings even when it's turge

This stunt ED did apparently is the most expensive ever done in soap history.

It should have been bloody good (pardon the pun). ITV seem to throw a lot of money at ED to do sensational stuff and it suits viewers of that soap who seem to indulge in the unbelievable and sensational. Personally I find it a bit pathetic that so much happens in a small rural village and some of the acting is cringeworthy but credit where its due it entertains certain members of the public.

All the soaps offer something for everyone, that shouldn't mean comparisons or competitions of my soap is better than yours all the time.

That's because people watch CS out of habit, because it's 'Coronation Street'. I've watched the last three years or more despite it being bloody awful until a couple of months ago when they stuck that boring plank Maria front right and centre and I just switched off completely. I haven't missed it in the slightest and don't feel compelled to tune in again anytime soon. I was definitely watching it out of habit not because I genuinely wanted to watch it and I reckon many viewers are the same which is why they get the ratings. If it was a new show started back in January or something it'd be lucky to get 2million.
