If you want to stop people discussing Jay, then I'm not sure that starting another thread about Jay is the right way to go about it.

Still a bit confused but Jay did seem to have an odd sense of humour.

But, then again, I've never lived in Nottingham so what do I know!”

Not an expression I've ever heard of myself

Jay is a very clever guy.He painted a picture of a young single guy to attract the female vote, played along with the farce that was the Strictly curse between Aliona and himself. He said he was comming home to England after being bored in America. The minute the tour was over he was straight back to America and the partner he had hidden all through Strictly.I think people fell for an image of him that was far from the truth.

I'm not hung up on Jay (great jive but preferred Georgia) but he is the reigning champion and was one of the best ever in 1 dance so he is going to be remembered.

Also he just got insulted on live TV which always brings out the protective instincts! (Still not sure it was meant as an insult, more like 'game on, forget the past, it's all about this series now' but it did sound pretty bad)

I am lost . When was Jay insulted ? Just because someone thinks another jive was better ? Really ? That not an insult . Its an opinion

I must say, you do seem totally pre-occupied with Jay. Do you actually talk, or even think about, anything else? There's nothing to be gained, and much to lose, in making wild, unsubstantiated assumptions, and then trying quote them as facts. And remember, what you say, tells others much more about you, than it says about your topic of conversation.

It's not a local expression anywhere- this was a weird meme in his defence that caught on despite being patently false.

While he did not say "mutilate" he did say he wanted to cut off the child's limbs. Dictionary definition of mutilate:

2. to deprive (a person or animal) of a limb or other essential part.

Quote:
“ We might have had a string of do-gooders, queuing-up, out side our door, to rescue us.”

"Disapproves of child mutilation" has got to be the lowest bar I have ever seen set for "do gooder", and I now feel incredibly virtuous.

For the record, I do not have any strong opinions on Jay. I thought he was a good dancer, although I found his wibbly-bibbly baby act a bit creepy and irritating. I am well aware that he didn't want to mutilate a child, he just let his mouth run away with him...but it's funny to bring up and watch the hoop jumping that ensues to justify it. Saint Jay the Everjiving must be without fault, even when he threatens children on national TV.

Oh, he went back to her? I hadn't realised.

Jay was good but I don't by any means think he was the best and Aliona absolutely played to the crowds and fawned all over him. They seemed to have a good relationship but then she seemed to have that with Matt Baker and Harry

I differ on this point.

It's been done to bloody death and whatever humour might have been elicited (less than you obviously think) was exhausted long ago.

Actually I talk about all things strictly. If I was so obsessed as some on here I'd be posting on the appreciation threads with the people who spend their every waking hour defending him and following his every move..I posted a lot about Will this year and again the fans said I was obsessed.I see people like you point this out when you dont agree with my views. You are just plain rude and that says a lot more about you than me.

Mother in Law has an expression relating to babies "Eat them all up, then love them all out again" - Lived in Leicester alternating with West Midlands for much of her childhood.

There are local expressions in most areas, which are dying out due to a more mobile population.

The forum threads are so dire, I'm contemplating Hara-Kiri. This is not a sex tourism resort unfortunately.

I am striving to reconcile this picture of rampant Union Jack waving masculinity with what we actually saw on Strictly last year... If there was indeed an attempt to fool us all that Jay is a fish and chip loving non-stop womaniser, I'm proud to say I didn't fall for it at all.

Yeah but the thing about cutting off hands and feet and kicking them is not an expression anywhere. It never has been. I appreciate your mother in law says a totally different expression, but I also appreciate that that is totally irrelevant.

I never rated Jay at all. In fact I stopped watching last year because it was a foregone conclusion that Jay would win.
