I have been watching Emmerdale since 1972 ,its been my all time favourite show and have seen many times when Jack beat people up and hit his son ,so I believe for a change what Robert said ,Jack most likely did give his son a hiding for being gay and if you watch the clips others have shared on this site you will most likely understand why It is likely that Jack did this when Robert was younger . I could also imagine Jack reacting the way he did. I can't stand the people who come out and say the recent revelations are a character assassination or that he was some kind of community pillar. Jack was hard man to please, a philanderer, and hypocrite. And he blatantly favoured Andy and Victoria over Robert, who he often went out of his way to belittle and humiliate. His own flippin son.

So yeah, it's not much of a stretch to imagine Jack going off on Robert.
