I'm actually fuming Emmerdale went down the predictable route!

Rhona would have been perfect to kill off as a shock.

But no, we get James dead. As everybody expected!

Ruined a good week.

Didn't ruin it because yes at start you thought it would be James. Tonight I thought it would be Aaron. Then was convinced it was Rhonda especially seeing Piers at funeral. So I was shocked it did end with James.

Predictable but had me guessing all week. On edge of seat stuff. Well done to everyone involved

Everyone knew James would die, so it was a damp squib of an ending. If it was Rhona or Aaron, what a massive shock.

Exactly. Bit of a non-event with limited consequences.

Really, you thought Aaron was in danger? They had me going with Rhona but aaron was never a doubt sadly.

Not that it was gonna happen but I did have all my fingers crossed that Paddy would go

I am very happy Rhona made it, I know shes not very popular here but I really like her

Exactly! If Rhona had gone that would have produced such good future storylines but I am glad it wasn't Aaron if only because Chas has had enough to put up with. Same could be said for Moira of course but when I think how wonderfully Holly's story-line was dealt with I thought the whole week was just OTT and tonight a great disappointment.

Other opinions are available of course!

I'm also happy Rhona made it - she's my favourite female character.

James dying was probably a surprise for the people who didn't know he was leaving - loads of people don't go on forums, TV sites etc so might not have known. I wanted it to be Aaron but unfortunately that was never going to happen.

They only expected it because one of the tabloid rags leaked the fact that Bill Ward was leaving the show. ED didn't release that info.

Once the leak had happened were ED supposed to axe and sacrifice another perfectly good actor/actress for no other reason than to give you a 30 second "shock"?

I think people don't actually understand what cop out means.

Cop out
Avoid doing something that one ought to do.
An instance of avoiding a commitment or responsibility.

Emmerdale didn't have to kill off anyone else but James. They didn't have a responsibility to kill anyone else off either.

I didn't know he was leaving, until this week, but he's also just not someone I give a hoot about. I was hoping it would be someone like Rhona or Paddy.

That's a fair point but they heavily implied that there would be more than 1 fatality

I guess after the shock of Holly's death I was expecting another shock death, so yeah it was a bit disappointing when the only character I knew was leaving dies. Saying that I'm glad Rhona and Aaron survived.

That's a very good point.

The only thing that I was not overly impressed with was that Paddy wasn't also fighting for his life after the scenes last night. And that they were hinting we'd have multiple deaths.

I'm glad Rhona survived though. Her lack of screentime for the whole stunt was disappointing though. She was just unconscious through the whole thing and didn't get to show off her acting.

Paddy made a miraculous recovery... he even said himself he had lost so much blood it was not looking good, then he passed out... then Pierce didn't say he was there and eventually piped up to the paramedics... I thought he was already dead. The start of the next episode he is sat upright in the waiting area with just a sling on

Total dissapointment, boring obvious outcome. Huge overdone stunt to kill off just one character and where was the shock returnee at the funeral? Not good at all, don't offer what you can't provide.

I think they should have stuck some deadwood in there. All of the characters involved were rather important with stories that are current.

Tracy, Vanessa, Dan and David could all have been involved. Losing one or two of them along with James would have been a better outcome considering the crash was so huge.

It's one of those situations where some people are happy with the outcome, some aren't - they were never going to please everyone. I'm sorry it was James as he's one of my favourite characters but so be it.

Just a shame they didnt get of the whiny little runt aaron. (yes, i said it). Would give chas something else to do apart smother him. She needs some character development, but tbh she would probably just switch her attention to liv.
