What an amazing week of episodes for Corrie. Clearly shows that it has evolved from the Stuart Blackburn era like a phoenix from the flames.

Great camera shots, nil spoilers and some major changes to the future of some of the characters.

Gripping stuff and cant wait until next week

Terrible week for Corrie and quite possibly the final nail in the coffin for me.

Characters warped and twisted beyond recognition just to bring about a stunt that ITV have clearly ordered in advance. The Platts are all officially ruined now and so is Corrie.

All Coronation Street is these days is ridiculous characters in ridiculous situations doing ridiculous things.

If it was Blackburn's name on the credits you would have laid right into it.

The whole thing was shit.

I thought it was great. I didn't see the spoilers and it was full of twists and turns. Well acted, ok a bit cheesy in places but genuinely emotional in others. Great filming of the stunt too.

I don't know why people have to have such a go, it's a soap and tonight's eps were far better than anything we've seen recently.

It was rubbish.

I'm starting to think all's lost with Corrie

At least tonight was funny though.

ITV's level of delusion is epitomised by the title of the video on their official YouTube account:

'A Huge Explosion Destroys The Street'

Destroys the street?

A few windows were smashed at the Rovers which was quickly reopened for businesses and full of customers happily having a pint.

Bullshit.

Tonight was too traumatic and unsuitable for a family show. Should have aired past the watershed.

Corrie was terrible. Emmerdale is far superior and even EE was better.

No offence, but wherever I go I see you moaning about Corrie. If you really aren't enjoying it, can I ask why you're still watching?

Weren't you moaning about Emmerdale's cop out earlier?

Except I've praised ED all week for it's Super Week, and have complained about ONE single element. Bit different to moaning in every thread. A fairly meagre attempt at digging up some dirt on me if I'm honest.

My moaning comes from a deep love and affection for Coronation Street. I love the show. It's one of the finest literary and/or theatrical creations in history, on a par with Chaucer, Shakespeare and Dickens.

I have an extensive knowledge of Coronation Street, its characters and its production. Others on DS will vouch for that. I'm 30 years old but my knowledge extends way back to 9 December 1960, which is day one. Such depth of knowledge can only come through passion and affection, something which I will always have for Corrie.

Sadly, the show that I love no longer exists. The stuff that ITV churns out six times a week is not Coronation Street and with each passing episode it gets worse.

While I love the show, I am not blinkered to its faults. I know what it is capable of and what it has delivered in the past, so to see anything falling short of that is painful for me. You may liken it to seeing a loved one begin on a downward spiral. I'm not one to sit by and watch them descend into an abyss. I will call them out on their choices at every opportunity. I will poke and poke and poke at them until something changes. I will make every other person around them know what a mess they're making of their lives. I will not condone their behaviour, brush it off as though the problem isn't there or applaud their failings.

Does that answer your question?

It wasn't edge of your seat fantastic but I did enjoy it, stuff from the Platts is always good to watch.

Although it was a bit cheesy...

Well you seem to have no.issue about trying to have a pop at others Aaron so unless you're prepared to accept the same criticism for hypocricy then maybe you could lay off the digs yourself

I enjoyed it. I don't think soaps need all these stunts really, but David Platt is a class character, a total screw up - I could watch him just scowling all day really.

I agree , it just edged in front tonight, Emmer tonight was disappointing and predictable, but Corrie was shocking and involved some great scenes.

Little Lilly is so sweet, Good on Gary for scooping her up, poor old Ken looked so poorly and David in the shower at the end was so moving, he has come to his senses and has realised just what he has done.

It was good, but I think the problem was after seeing the amazing Emmerdale episodes, the corrie episodes then felt very poor in comparison, especially as they were both saying they had big weeks. Emmerdale's episodes really did feel big and special and different, but Corrie's didn't really feel much different to usual.

Also what was that horrible stuttering effect for when David was rolling in the car and his slo-mo shouting?! It was horrible! Ruined the scene for me. I understand them trying something different, but why not just use normal slo-mo?

Also, did Lily even go to hospital? A young child trapped under a car and no one seemed particularly concerned about her. Also Gary has a car stuck on him, and he was fine?? Really! As if! Also David didn't seem to be injured despite being flipped over in the car!

Fair enough if they didn't want everyone laid up in hospital beds, but why have all that happen just for everyone involved in the initial crash to be absolutely fine?

They could have also done so much more with the explosion. The explosion itself was incredible, and all the windows shattering looks really good, but apart from Anna, nothing came about from it either. Even the pub was back up and running despite the glass in the doors and first window all cracked, and the others gone completely with some flimsy sheets covering them! Don't want to sound morbid or anything, but they could have had Beth come around the corner just as the car exploded and she is flung back and no one sees her for a while, then it could have been a good way for Craig to come back to her as he is worried he has lost her. Would also get her and Kirk back together.
