Surprised Louisa and Vincent haven't been mentioned yet - week 3 jive on about 2 hours rehearsal from memory.

Yes, it was great, especially considering they only practised the whole routine on the day of the show due to Vincent being injured. A week three 10 as well.

Louisa looked like such a happy bunny in that dance.

[QUO=Camis;84309709]Thanks for posting that - enjoyed watching it again plus the next dance up was the Natalie / Brendan and Pasha / Katya black and white Tango / Quickstep which is possibly my favourite pro dance![/quote]

I just watched that, GRRR at the producers dropping Katya, she really is a great dancer, I really like this years Katya as well, good name😀

It's what made me fall in love with Natalie as chereographer and one of the reasons I hope Greg does well this year - fingers crossed.

Halfpenny danced with Darren Bennet - I don't know if that's before your time. Not being sarcy but it's a fact that there may be people who post on this forum who weren't even born when the first SCD happened and Jill was series two which was a mere six months after the first series.

It was all a bit different then. There were ten contestants - no American Smooth (which got introduced as a dance in the next series), no salsa or Argentine Tango (which were group dances the next series and became competition dances in series four - with the later restricted to the semi-finals), no charleston (that was introduced in series seven along with the rock n'roll dance which didn't catch on) and lifts were restricted to the showdances only (Darren Bennett commented somewhere about the enjoyment of putting them into the showdance because he could) and three person final (four person finals came in series ten) and the original series and then series four, five and seven had two person finals because people dropped out for various reasons - health, beverement and injury. Also there were no themed nights (these were introduced in series eight) and the contestants performed either one specific ballroom or one specific latin dance until they ran out of dances and then they got mixed up. In the later stages of series three to seven the contestants did two dances every week. This for three weeks in series four and five.

I hadn't realised Vincent was injured. I remember him playing a tape of songs for Louisa and her going nope, nope, nope until the music they used came up. Those were the days when the pro could do that.

It's on my list of fav dances of all time so argee totally

I know it's jitterbug and not jive so really out of bounds - but best group dance ever, and nothing to do with uniforms at all

I got to admit I was getting a little fed up with the nasty threads popping up for no other reason than to upset and draw members into arguments

Thanks for this katt, I went back to earlier jives and there were some great ones.
Matt and Flavia, Vincent and Louise were my favourites but then anything Vincent and Flavia did was fabulous I miss them ........ Ah.....Memories. Matt and Flavia SALSA

like that routine - and boy love a man in a uniform love jitterbug and rock and roll and lindy - rock in roll is one of my loves and have taught many children to dance it and love it when they learn to love the music of forties and fifties

week three there were a few goodies that week - Gaby and James's was pretty good as well and I don't remember John Barnes and Nicole's being too shaby either.

On the subject of neglected ones - I thought that Zoe and James's deserved more love too.

It was great and the dirty dancing and ladies blue/swing group dance from the same year were great too.

YEEEESSSSSS!!! Flavia and Vincent did everything brilliantly. Truly great dancers and teachers.

And I know this takes it really off topic but does anyone remember (or can find a clip) of the showdance performed by professionals (I think it was series one or two) and I think the girl was Hannah someone or other....... Their show dance was the best I've ever seen professionals dance, but I don't think they've ever been back on the show; it seemed to be a one-off. I'm sure they're not doing those routines now!

Was it either of these with Hannah Karttunen?

Yes - thank you Ellie. The first one! I remember the leopard catsuit now. I just didn't think she had any bones at all in that routine. But now I remember she did return to Strictly, so thank you for the second link too!

Thanks for that - a lovely reminder of one of my top three Strictly series . So many great couples.

I wish we saw more group dances these days. The rehearsal room stuff was always good fun.

Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett.

Thanks for the info. I've picked up bits here and there about what Strictly was like early on but it's very interesting to see it set out chronologically like that. I think series 9 was the first full Strictly I saw - with Chelsee and Holly. I preferred the 3 person final but hated the way Chelsee got pushed aside at the end.

I wish the BBC did DVDs of the earlier series I would love to see it right from the start.

I liked this pro jive from 2010.

If uniforms are your thang you may like it too.

(Although I always found the Aliona/Jared pairing a little mismatched)”

Lol my least favourite pro pairing considering Aliona, she's fire and his water also their both so similar in height, every pro she's partnered with she manages to create so much chemistry so this particular pairing was a bit dodgy
