It wasn't? The salon was also affected, they showed its windows blown out

It's never been a Corrie or Emmerdale situation for ITV it's Corrie and Emmerdale

Personally, I thought last night was fantastic for both soaps.

I don't think there's any danger of Corrie being axed anytime soon. Personally I think it's on the up, I'm looking forward to seeing the new producers work in the coming year.

No! I don't think it's ready for the knacker's yard yet.

They still have some really good characters, like David and Todd. They could do with some stronger storylines, I think.

"I don't like Coronation Street, so it should be axed"

Last night's double bill got 7.12m (35.8%) and 7.23m (34.8%) respectfully. Should a show receiving ratings like that be axed? I'm sure you know the answer.

I used to watch Corrie years ago, I stopped watching it because of how awful it was. I didn't expect the show should be axed because I stopped watching, I just moved on to something else.

While there are still people who do it enjoy it why should it be axed?

LOL @ the original post, yes of course a channel would axe their best flagship show that brings in the highest soap ratings on a regular basis, you may not like it much, but millions do.this week was a magnificent slow burner building up to last nights shocking revelations.

Pretty pointless too. The Op is not going to get the 'required' answer. Perhaps he/she should axe it from their viewing list.
What would replace it? Teletubbies After Dark?

It's lucky that it has a well-established fan base, cause in this current climate with the variety of choice around it could struggle. It's not unthinkable for it to be axed decline over time will push it into a compromising position. That goes for all soaps, but the only one that I could realistically see it happening to is HO.

Oh dear, it's the bi-weekly I don't like the current state of Coronation Street (daily if you include other shows like EE) so it should be axed thread.

As Check it out posted (see above) the ratings are massive for CS by modern standards for a soap, and it's not going to get axed any time soon. I'm still catching up after an eventful month (I'm up to the last week in September) but can see improvements in the show already. Give the new producer a year to settle in, and bring in new characters, if it's still shite after that then let's look at axing it.

No, it shouldn't be axed - Certain aspects of it should have evolved, but axing it would just be reckless.

Soaps are one too much now. I can remember the days when they would only do 5 nights a week for special events. I blame the increase in episodes for their decline in quality.

You don't like it anymore? Don't watch it. Then you can save us from pointing out the obvious to you.

You do realise Emmerdale has recently featured a psycho in a blood soaked wedding dress (after chopping off a chicken's head) push someone off a bridge and cause an enormous pile up. Don't get me wrong - I like Emmerdale but I think it has its own claim on silliness, or possibly total insanity

All soaps go through times like these, what is interesting to some is boring to others, it is jogging along quite fine for me, much better than EastEnders at the moment, but I expect it will all change again soon. Horses for courses is the saying, I hope you feel better about it soon.....
