Class is the perfect opportunity to have Chesterfield make his triumphant return to the world of Doctor Who. Is it possible he will make an appearance?

I hope not, they'd probably kill him off.

And turn him into a Cyberman.

It's Chesterton.

Although the Doctor did call Ian Chesterfield. And Chatterton. And Charterhouse! I like to think it was a running joke, rather than Billy Boy fluffing his lines.

eta Whoops, Daveyboy in before me!

I would hate it if he was just relegated to a 10 seconds cameo in a corridor, it would be such a disservice.
I know he's not as youthful as he once was, but I'd hope that if he was to be in an episode, the script would work around his capabilities to give him a worthwhile and respectful appearance.
Saying that, how many Board of Governors actually reside at school? The only top of the ladder persons that have been at the schools I've attended are the Headmaster, there was no office doors in any of the ones I went to that had 'Governor' on them and aren't they really area managers that oversea many schools in a particular region?
The people in suits tended to come and go in an afternoon.

I always felt it was a shame he wasn't given a cameo in Doctor Who in recent years, especially with Clara working at Coal Hill. But maybe Class is a better place for it... they could write a script that involves him a bit more prominently somehow. It worked for The Sarah Jane Adventures after all, with the Brigadier making a fantastic appearance at the end of Series 2.

Wishful thinking but the robot we saw in the second episode was 'property of The Governors'. It never proved to be a bad guy and we never saw it come through a tear in space/time. Maybe Chairman of the Governors Ian Chesterton has been up to more than, well...governing.

Part of me thought it was nice that the school sign says "Chair of Governors: Mr I Chesterton", but a bigger part felt it should say "Mrs B Chesterton".

I am just a romantic old softie.

Yes please, Chesterton could be having a Governors visit or something and and an event occurs which comes to the attention of The Doctor which would lead to their final meeting. Massive fan appeal I think.

Wasn't there some canon discussion regarding both Ian and Barbara never having aged since returning?

It's a line from one of the Sarah Jane Adventures episodes; Death of the Doctor by RTD. I only really watched the ones with Tennant and Smith, but do remember Sarah (?) saying it was "rumoured" that they never aged, IIRC. I'd personally hope that it was a false rumour! Like to think that Ian and Barbara grew old together, not remained in their 1965 guises. That'd be a bit weird.

I've said before that it's easy enough to work around that line.

Have it that they aged remarkably slowly for a couple of decades, so they looked like they were in their forties when they were over sixty.

After that the effects from the Dalek Timeship wore off and they started aging normally (with Barbara dying at some point).

Think Bilbo Baggins. Doesn't age as long as he has the One Ring but starts aging again once he gives it up.

If Class got Ian I'd hate to think what they'd do to his character.
