It says on Facebook Laura has an ankle injury and therefore won't be dancing tonight, what a shame for her and Giovanni.

Maybe someone can step in for her?

Sorry, just being silly. Hope she's OK and ready to dance next week!
Ankle injury is terrible.

A real shame. I wasn't expecting it to be top of the leaderboard, but I thought the jive might be good for Laura with her training (albeit brief) in Irish Dancing.

Wish her a speedy recovery

Oh poor Laura. And not a great injury to have, unless it's a minor sprain then it could take more than a few days to heal.

Well, she was due to dance 'The Jive' ... 👻
I don't doubt for a moment it's geunine but it does spare her the after the Lord Mayor's show moment.

That's a shame - I hope it's not too bad and she can get back next week. I'm actually surprised more people don't get injured doing Strictly - maybe it's just my clumsiness, but the idea of learning some of the spins and flicks in the heels they wear seems extremely unlikely without me potentially breaking something.
Agreed and it's not as if the jive isn't a dance that's undemanding on your legs is it?

Ailona and Natalie Lowe have both injured themselves in the past so it does happen even to pros I suppose especially to pros. Robin put out his knee in series ten as well I think and then amongst the contestants there was Laila and very seriously Jade.

Very unfortunate. They were both looking forward to doing the Jive so much, and training had looked promising.

I hope Laura recovers fast enough to be able to train next week.

Laura has had Cha Cha Cha, Waltz, Salsa, Quickstep and then Jive. So that is run of 3 fast dances. In the Cha Cha Cha training clips Laura mentioned that she had one weak ankle which was taking a bit of strain and had some treatment for it. Maybe this week saw that problem return under the intensity of Jive training. Its a great shame.

Her training clips earlier in the week for Jive were looking fairly strong so this was likely to be a good week for her had she been able to dance. No contestant wants to take a bye, as Ochre has sensibly pointed out, you tend to lose a bit of momentum so will need to come back the next week with a 'strong' dance.

As its Hallowe'en next week, I hope the Theme Pixies smile on her when dishing out the vampires, ghouls and mummy costumes etc.

While I hope it's not too serious...

The producers must be crapping themselves that she may have to withdraw. Two person final? End a week early?

No I think they will just carry on and have a two person final. Its not ideal and I am sure that they will have fingers crossed that she will be OK.

Does it mean though that AJ and Claudia can now nick Reet Petite for their jive?!
I wonder who will go tonight then?
Ed maybe, an AS to Amarillo has to be an abomination, surely?
Then maybe he can finally go on the lash with Danny et al. What the hell was all that about? Sympathy vote?

Ah, okay, thanks for that!

Well that's a bit weird, isn't it? I'm hoping that there was a daft, jokey tone on the radio that's simply been lost in transcription!

I think its such a shame that Tameka who was more entertaining lost her place so I really hope Laura is well enough to dance next week.
