When Anastasia couldn't dance in the dance off people were outraged and quite vile about her even though she had a serious injury due to her mastectomy scars ripping so it makes sense why she didn't dance but Laura Whitmore can't dance this week and gets a bye to next week and noone seems outraged by it.

Well then Anastacia should have taken a bye. Makes no odds anyway, people can't abide a bad sport.

No one should be. It's in the rules, she's not the first person to get a bye for a week in Strictly, due to injury.

Incidentally, I could never be "outraged" by something that happened on a Saturday night entertainment show.

Totally different circumstances. Anastasia was injured on Friday, told not to dance, did so anyway on Saturday and then when suddenly in the DO decided she didn't want to dance again just in case. Laura injured herself during the week, got told not to dance and took the bye as per the rules. Totally different situation.

Plus if your an Anastacia fan, which I assume you are, bringing this all up again doesn't do her any favours. I thought she danced wonderfully tonight and yet I was one of those calling for her to go after the Melvin fiasco.

People dance with their legs, so even if your arm is hurt or some other injury to your upper body, you can still take some painkillers and dance. How can you dance with an injured ankle??.

But it's not the same. Laura's injured her ankle so can't dance until next week. Anastacia was in the dance off and couldn't dance, so Melvin went home due to having the lowest public vote. If she had danced in the dance off, the chances are she'd have gone home because Melvin would have done the better performance. Probably would have gone out the next week anyway, but the outrage was about Anastacia not dancing and his chances to stay in then being halved.

There are a few snipes at Laura tonight actually - granted, not as many, but it is slightly different circumstances.

Personally I don't mind Anastacia, thought she was good tonight, thought the right thing happened with her injury and the dance off too. I can see, however, how she could rub people the wrong way and I can see why people would have been irritated by her injury situation.

Not excusing any nastiness, as I really don't agree with it, whoever it is aimed at (excluding producers ). Just saying I can kinda understand why people might have felt that way, especially compared to Laura's situation.

In recent memory Tameka danced with an injured knee as did fellow Eastender Gillian Taylforth years before.

Both went out on that particular week so maybe should have taken a bye...

Because she was worried about making it even worse, all heart you.

Anastacia sustained her injury during her dance so there was no need for a bye as rules existed to deal with it though had never been needed before, since when is being told by doctors you cannot dance being a bad sport.

True. The problem with the injuries, the doctor is assessing whether the dancer can dance with it and whether they are going to do any permanent damage to it.
People can't even walk with a sprained ankle.

Because Laura pulled out before the show .
Anastacia danced in the show , then waited till she was declared in the dance off before throwing a wobbler and refusing to dance .
That's the difference .

You are upset because you feel people were vile to Anastasia but now you want people to be vile to Laura to make it fair?

Oh puh-lease . She is arrogant and assumed her performance was enough to keep her off the bottom two and that doing it for her charidee would get her the public sympathy vote . It didn't work so she threw a wobbly/tantrum and refused to re dance .
Very bad form .

She didn't, she went against doctors orders to dance.

Um, if she was worried about making it worse why dance at all Saturday? Your argument doesn't make any sense. If she was so badly injured and went against Doctors orders then who is to blame? She is, however you cut it. Its got nothing to do with me being all heart or not. The question was why aren't people moaning about Laura and my answer was accurate.

I thought she danced on Saturday and then took medical advice on if she could do it again was told no and then the decision happened.

She ignored there advice not to dance at all the Saturday, when she further injured herself medics were involved and advised her not to do the dance off and that time she listened . I do not see the issue as the public vote made the decision just as it did in Series 1 to 4 and Series 8 and 9 and in all finals.

the thing is they cannot win if they had cancelled a vote off and given both a bye people would be saying they should have used the votes the public paid for , they do that and people complain

I know a friend who did and did a lot of damage to it as a result. It happens a lot with young people you get drunk do your ankle in and walk on it as the pain is dulled by being drunk. It's very, very unwise though. My husband has terrible knees and runs half-marathons so the knee is different.

Most people have moved on from the Anastacia/Melvin non dance off and it seems a shame to resurrect the discussion. Laura's sprained ankle sounds a fair reason for getting a bye.

Are we back in the playground? This is all getting a bit tedious since this backbiting and baiting is infiltrating every thread.
