Agree - it is very difficult for a tall person to do Latin. The Charleston WAS different and at least she was enjoying the experience. I do like her and Alijaz together.

The marking was all over the place - I couldn't believe that Danny did not get 10s for his paso and both Louise's rumba and Ore's waltz imo were over marked.

Agree with this.

I thought Daisy deserved her score. I would have liked to see a 9 in there among the 8s but being tied with Claudia in fourth place one mark and place behind Louise was fair. Daisy certainly deserved to be above those below her and Claudia on the leaderboard.

Daisy's Charleston was the dance of the night for me, a fun, quirky, characterful and skilled performance.

Daisy is so tall and even when she is being gentle it seems clumpy. Poor girl.

I think Daisy has been overmarked since week 1. But I'm not going to give her the fatal label.

I think Daisy comes across very well, I was not anticipating that at all. She has also done some good routines, this for me wasn't one of them. She took over the Slenderman role from Jeremy last year. Would have much preferred a Gatsby style.
Still, at least we've been saved routines like Daisy Daisy, California girls (daisy dukes) and Low: had she been crap and short, Kev would have had a tandem, beach shorts and hiphop out before you can whisper Lou's a bit beige.

I agree!

I went back and watched it again after reading the opening post - didn't get that impression at all from my first watching and I feel the same after the second.

It was a very good routine, danced with the correct character and excellent timing, and as you say, Daisy was in front of Aljaz a lot of the time and didn't look at him to remember the steps.

It could have done with a little more energy, but if Daisy was a little bit more of an athlete, I think it would have been my 'Best dance of the night'.

I agree, and she hasn't been one of my faves. I also thought she got tired towards the end, not surprising. She isn't a gymnast like claudia (who I Iike btw). There were others who were WAY overmarked, both this week and last.

I really like Daisy so far but felt this Charleston was a real missed trick.

She looks like a perfect flapper girl - pale, long legs - and I was expecting a Sophie Ellis-Bextor style look and choreography. But what we got was unremarkable and pretty dull.

A wasted opportunity.

Think that her and Laura are probably not pulling in the audience vote, otherwise I can't think of a reason for that scoring.

Mind you, I had the same issue with Abbey, though she was clearly a better dancer.

The idea behind it was good, but the technique just wasn't there (look at Dani's fusion to the same song). It's a case of she is a non-dancer and is trying her best.

I think she has been overmarked since week 1 too. She must be polling low in the voting.

I think celebs I don't like are overmarked, too.

Oh well if that's the case, I only like Claudia, so they have all been overmarked except her

For some reason I had an expectation Daisy would be great in ballroom with Aljaz and would struggle a bit elsewhere. So that Charleston was better than I expected but somehow not as good as it was marked, which leaves me confused.

I disagree with this part of the OP's post. I re-watched the routine a couple of times. Aljaz is behind Daisy for much of the routine and so there is little opportunity for her to watch him in order to remember the steps. Also, even if she was facing him more, I don't think it would be possible for her to copy what he's doing and still keep in time with him and the music - she would be a beat behind.

I think Daisy's score this week was pretty fair. I think in previous week's she has been over praised and overmarked, but I don't think that is the case this week.

There are different styles of Charleston.

Daisy's was a less frenetic, smoother style with less lifts than usual, but it's still a Charleston.

Well it was certainly different, in a good way. I liked the goofiness she brought to the dance (intentional or not lol). It had a quirkiness to it and didn't rely on lots of tricks like many Charlestons.

I've given up on sensible scoring this year however. It's all over the place. I'm just going to enjoy the dances, vote for my favourite/s and keep my fingers crossed they stay in

not sure if she was over marked, maybe the judges knew she wasn't attracting much public vote, but she's a good dancer, and comes across as a nice person. I'm glad she stayed and would like to see what else she can do
