Residual Problems from Yesterday's DDOS Attack
Has anyone else had any residual problems today in the form of connection timeouts and DNS errors?
My EE 4G broadband connection has been a nightmare all day - I've been through everything I can think of, from hard resetting the router, to flushing DNS cache, to trying Google DNS and OpenDNS, and nothing has helped. I was coming to the conclusion my router was faulty, but was going to try a SIM swap tomorrow just to rule that out. However, there are a few other people over at the EE forums reporting similar problems, so now I'm wondering if it's a wider issue rather than something at my end. Anyone else had problems today? |

Yes, problems today and yesterday.
I was out doing speed testing and was going from 130Mbps to no data connection, which I assume was DNS related. It's been down most of the evening, which is a right pain as I wanted to use 4G to upload a 1.5GB video to YouTube (40Mbps up vs 0.7Mbps!) and it seems that idea has gone out the window. |

Nope.
Ee2g as stable as normal, though 3 3g was going like a good 'un for downloads this morning. The opposite in fact, to 'normal'. |

I had no real issues using EE in London today, but in Hertfordshire it's near unusable - up and down constantly.
I drove to Heathrow yesterday and had issues logging in to TomTom for traffic, and Spotify wouldn't work at all. Ended up tethering from a Three phone on the way back, which did work. |

I think EE are definitely having problems today from looking at the EE site. It's been virtually unusable here all day too - up and down like a yoyo. The last half an hour have been the most stable and reliable its been all day.
To be honest I'll be hugely relieved if it is an EE problem. I was at the end of my tether earlier thinking it was a problem at my end - I've got an important week coming up and flaky/unusable internet will be a bloody disaster. Hopefully it'll be resolved by Monday... |

Nothing that's happened today will be residual from yesterday's attacks on Dyn.
I've been out and about in Dorset today and had no issues on EE. It's probably just localised issues on their network. |

They've tried to bundle it in with yesterday's problems on the EE forum, and been 'investigating' 4G data problems on Twitter all day, but in typical EE style they have yet to officially acknowledge there is a network problem. |

Well, I don't know the cause but there's no doubt there IS a problem!

Yes, this forum has been a nightmare too. Lost a few posts due to the site timing out, and for once it wasn't my broadband going down.
I opted to use my VPN for a bit and that seemed to fix things. Using Chrome Data Saver also killed things, so I don't think we're out of the woods yet. Goes to show how dependent we are on the Internet now. It really feels odd when it goes down, and you can't switch from one connection to another to get back on. Any more of this and I'll have to go and read a book or talk to someone face to face. |

I've been in a constant state of anxiety all day - I live in a rural area and my only window on the wider world is t'internet some days. Nearly had to walk a mile and a half to get a paper...

No issues at any point, over the last couple of days what so ever either on my Virgin Media connection at home or my Three phone.

![]() I think Saturday's issues were (are?) confined to EE. |

I doubt it's related after all this time, sounds like another issue with EE specifically?

They're just using Dyn to muddy the waters. I suppose it may be tenuously related in that EE could have made some changes on Friday to mitigate the Dyn problem, that have now gone t*ts up. |

Still masses of problems being reported in various parts of the UK.
Shockingly, EE are still apparently randomly switching between half-acknowledging it to some people on Twitter (we are aware of an issue, investigating etc) and directing others to the network status page as though it's business as usual and there are one or two unrelated problems on the network. I hate the way EE do this - deny a problem until it's so big or they're backed into a corner to the extent that they have no choice but to acknowledge it. It seems to be baked into their culture from problems with individual masts right through to wider issues like this. |
