Isn't it strange that the normally-so-frantic Kevin...
jiroos

...is being so cool and controlled with Louise?

This is not a criticism as I have no problem with Kevin and I know partners need different treatment... but, just when a shot of "frantic-ness" is needed to take Louise to the next level (as Darcey more or less pointed out last week), Kevin decides to lay back and slow the pace.

Kellie would have felt like she was on her honeymoon if he'd been the same with her last year!

What do you think - is Kevin's current approach enough to take Louise to the Glitterball or is it time to revisit "old Kev"?

I think it's too early to say. She has the potential and Kevin is no fool. A lot don't like him on here, but I think he's good at his job, as is his sister.
It's all very well Darcey putting in her two penn'oth but I think Kevin would be more able to judge what she can handle at the moment.
If he pushes her too hard, she could lose confidence, make a mess of it and end up in danger of getting eliminated.
While she is presently in no danger as she's a likeable person, even the female viewers will like her, more than say Daisy or Anastacia, it might be his view that he shouldn't take too many risks.

Well, Kevin couldn't exactly be frantic considering the type of song they were dancing to.

Maybe we'll see a more frantic Kevin the next time he's given an uptempo song to dance to. Louise has natural ability to pull off different styles so I'm sure Louise would be able to match that level of franticness if required.

I think that- for all that many have called her beige- Louise is very much her own woman and sets the tone and pace that she is happy with, which to me is a good thing. I wouldn't want to see anyone pushed into behaving in a way alien to them just to win a reality show. If anything, it might almost be that Kevin is the chameleon, adapting himself to the vibe of each partner he has.
She seems to be enjoying the show on her own terms which is great.

I actually really like his approach with Louise - I really didn't like his partnership with Susannah (or their paso) because it was all a bit frantic and distracting, but I think year on year he's getting better at getting the balance right.

We'll see once they get a flashy dance/theme or whatever to see what he's come up with, but he seems to have judged it right for the most part this year (although the Flashdance routine wasn't a good fit for Louise, you can only work with what TPTB give you, I guess). Louise seems more a Frankie type personality wise (probably even quieter) than a Susannah or Kellie, so he's taken that into account and it's working. It might not be the most exciting approach in the world, but they seem to be a good, albeit uninspiring, pairing so far.

I liked his pairing with Frankie and still remember their dance to Defying Gravity which I really thought was good.

I like the pairing and under a 4 person final would say they'll be there but now its 3 and could be 2 I don't know, it could be the year Kevin doesn't reach the final

My issue with Louise is that she hasn't improved since week 1. She is a fabulous dancer but you need to improve - like Ore - or throw out some wow dances - like Danny - to make herself noticed more. She is going to have to have a wow dance in the next few weeks or she may find herself slipping out of the competition ahead of time.

I admit i am a Kevin fan, But i like the fact that he is not frantic with Louise, he is good at adapting to fit his partnerships. I thought Louise looked lovely, beautiful dress. I like the more toned down Kevin. I think Kevin is a good teacher and is gradually building up Louise confidence in her ability to dance.

There was always a question mark above Louise before she even started on SCD.
She was discussing wearing certain style costumes in case her husband and boys were embarrassed by her and made the decision she would not wear any.

I think SCD has accommodated her in her wishes, to the point of me agreeing with what Darcy is saying- she needs a push now.

I understand that if she is not comfortable in what she is wearing then her dancing will suffer. How long before the more frantic dances will we see her in ball
gowns that SHE is comfortable wearing.
You enter a show , do your best and if you have to wear an outlandish costume. get on with it- this is Strictly.-Look at Ed Balls!

For someone to say that " good on her she is doing it on her terms and this should be admired"( words to that effect don't know how to cut and paste)
No Louise is getting well paid for SCD

I really liked Louise at the start and was really looking forward to her and Kevin. However I think now she has definitely reached her plateau.

Obviously Kevin can only try. The saying "you can take a horse to water but cannot make it drink" comes to mind.

All of those people asking why Kevin is always given a good partner are certainly wrong here. I am sorry to say is now being over marked to keep her on SCD.

Perhaps he has just taken on board all the complaints last year about being too frantic.

Take what people on DS have say?
Don't think so. The views on Kevin vary from adoration (me) to vile hate for the Cliftons.

If I were dancing/singing/ acting -doing anything where the public are involved, I would never read the articles.. I would be a shivering wreck in a darkened room.

They did have the Rumba though. Next week may be the week that puts her in the running. Seeing as it's Halloween.

Last night was a rumba, the last thing a rumba needs is anything like frantic!

Give Kevin time to get her upto his speed I still think Louise is an outsider for the final.

She is consistently good but needs to be exceeding now.

Me too - very well pitched dance for Louise.

She didn't really have the right technique in the CCC, but her leg work was better in the Rumba. She also seems to be toning up - her legs looked gorgeous - as did she.

She does seem to be getting a bit more comfortable in the dances too - more confident.

Last week and this week they urged Kevin to push her forward, but they were responding to a waltz and a rumba, which are rarely game-changer dances. Presumably they were just supposed to be general trajectory points, but one assumes Kevin would know what to do anyway when the Samba or Argentine Tango are reached.

She's as tedious a dancer as she is in real life. Total wallpaper.
