I joke about Tess sometimes, but the reality is both her and Claudia are excellent at their jobs. The show is a beast and they keep it running smoothly every week. As the Olly and Caroline experiment on the X Factor proved there is a lot more involved in hosting these shows than a quip and a cheeky grin.
Strictly also calls for a certain character from its hosts, a sort of inoffensive warmth that doesn't upset its broad appeal. Your random assortment of men who are currently presenters wouldn't work: Walsh is too much of a showman and Norton and Clary are good natured hecklers. Tess excels at that kind of thing which can lead to accusations of dullness, but the show just wouldn't work with two Claudias hosting.

I love Claudia but I'm none too keen on Tess. Claudia can think on her feet, but it all sounds a bit scripted with Tess.
Also I think Claudia is much more confident than Tess; Tess tries too hard whereas Claudia is relaxed enough to crack the "odd" joke.

I am, by the way, not really criticising either Tess or Claudia but both of them are hosting SCD because of Bruce's retirement, not because they were picked as the outstanding frontrunners for the job of running the UK's top entertainment show. Jay Hunt made a huge blunder in getting rid of Arlene which went beyond the aberration that was the woeful Alesha Dixon. It meant that when Bruce left, the BBC would have had to have huge guts to change the surviving female hosts.

And then there was Claudia and a huge clamour from the PC brigade to appoint two women and so the die was cast.

He has the personality and charm, knows his dancing so can intelligently defend the dancers if the judge's barbs get too harsh and would play off Claudia brilliantly,
I'd also replace Len with Karen Hardy and make her head judge. Keep the other three so there's a nice balance across the judging styles.

It's nothing at all to do with any PC brigade, they both worked on the show and Claudia worked on ITT, it was logical, same as Zoe stepping in a year or so back, a team, and actually would be very wrong to ignore that and bring an outsider in.

Just because I've never been a politician, doesn't mean I can't tell when somebody is performing and when they are not.
I have gone to great pains to praise the job that Tess does. BUT presenting the UK's top light entertainment show is about far more than just keeping things running - and that is really all she does. Yes, the replacements for Bruce were logical but were they right? This is a top job that calls for top skills and neither Tess nor Claudia have them.
I don't watch the XFactor but as far as I remember they exchanged one top class presenter, Dermot, for two duffers. To their credit they pretty soon realised their mistake and went cap in hand to the professional.

I am fascinated you dismiss my suggestions because they are 'showmen.' This is exactly what we need, somebody with personality and years of experience fronting top shows who can judge the temperature and adjust their performance accordingly. Viewing figures of ten million for SCD and only six million for XF prove SCD " team" does well.
Tess is very capable, she also hosts Children in need, and has hosted The One Show, and a show re Mums on another channel.

If you want to see overpaid male hosts injecting "class" and "magic" into a dull and repetitive show, try watching "Pointless" or "University Challenge". But "QI" has perked up now that Sandy Tostvig has replaced the (by now stir crazy bored) Stephen Fry.
No reason for a 14-part show to score 99.5% for breathlessness every week; and Tess and Claudia do their best to deal with the utterly dire and stupid repetitive PC terms and conditions and rules of the game that are inflicted on the show each and every week.
The other recommendation I would make to the OP is to find your remote and learn how to switch off.

Not sure what a wink link is, but the One Show gets 4/5 million viewers and does a lot for charity like the rickshaw challenge, it's inspiring.
Not sure what any spades have to do with it either as it's not gardeners world.
Having other talents like giving time for free to host CIN live shows skill.
Good getting ten million viewers, means excellent.
No need to ruin a good show with Julian Clary as you suggest.....

Yeah, just tell the Beeb there are some other changes too - look, Dave Arch and his 4 singers have had their day, so replace them with a real living legend like Rod Stewart.
You should stop all those lights flickering around the studio and lighting up the floor, because they get in the way of my being able to see what the dancers' feet are doing.
And definitely no VTs shot on foreign soil, even though Paris is closer to the studio than Glasgow, and who paid for a camera crew to go to Malta! Otherwise, no point in Brexit vote, innit?
I would just like for Tess to NOT ask the dance off couple "how do you feel" it's a totally senseless question and often cringeworthy to watch the response.

I disagree, Alexander and Richard are brilliant hosts and pointless is far from dull. I have a lot of friends all past our prime who love that programme and the two hosts.
Look, leave the OP alone. This person puts in lots of time and effort into "dishing" SCD .
Those of us who love the show gain great pleasure from it.- we are lucky we have remote controls where we can change channels quickly to the joys that are X factor/ Parents being Matchmakers / on ITV..
The OP obviously does not have this luxury. Their pleasure is writing copious amounts of negativity on this forum. Then people (like me) who reply add fuel to the fire.
Their number of posts increase/ they become experts and people bow down to their superior knowledge- they think. This happens on many forums.
So do not deny them the satisfaction they gain from this .they can hardly bear to watch SCD now) so have to do something productive on a Saturday / Sunday evenings and weekdays with ITT?
Those of us who love the show gain great pleasure from it.- we are lucky we have remote controls where we can change channels quickly to the joys that are X factor/ Parents being Matchmakers / on ITV..

I love Claudia, and can just about stand Tess but, she has changed her presenting and is trying to be More like Bruce. In that she makes silly comments and argues with the judges which is not her job. I find it very annoying that she butts in.
I would like to see Zoe and Claudia presenting strictly but, who then could do ITT?
