Either the UK talent pool has been well and truly drained, or (more likely) the casting for the live shows gets increasingly skewed so the Chosen One has no real competition. Makes for really dull shows, and it makes the constant hyperbole in the comments of the judges look even more scripted and fake.

Thing is most of the acts do not apply to be on the show they get chosen by the producers of the show who troll the web looking for acts to be on the show ,it's all to fake ,they need new young fresh judges who want to find and mentor the act not just turn up for the money

The singing show has struggled with ratings since it returned to screens earlier this year.

Last week an average of 5.8 million people watched the show, dropping from 6.2 million the week before.

This week's X Factor diva theme left viewers at home angry with Nicole Scherzinger for "stealing the limelight", and as Simon Cowell inferred, neglected her acts.

Dont know why Louis, Sharon and Nicole are getting slated, the whole show is run and scripted by Cowell and his cronies, the other judges just do his bidding. Sharon couldnt look less interested if she tried, turns up for the hospitality gets paid then goes home to recover.
Though last night plumbed the depths of nastiness Ryans treatment was awful though he dealt with what was thrown at him well.

Yup. It's a national embarrassment. It's not a singing competition at all. Just a cheap scripted karaoke circus/marketing platform for judges and established acts.

I actually think they have this warped goal of hoping the winner flops after one album. Only in exceptional circumstances, when the stars are aligned, would certain talented acts achieve long term success. The industry simply can't accommodate all winners/acts that got far.

I blame Dumb & Dumber.

Whoever thought it would be a really good idea to give them all that airtime from auditions to boot camp to 6CC to live shows should be sacked.

The public didn't want Dumb & Dumber so why force them down our throats to choke on?

The panel were critical on the acts but only because of the drop in ratings.

Series 7 was when the show peaked it will never reach that level again. It was also the beginning of the end for the show when the manipulation came in.

You're having a laugh - Strictly is watched by all ages so don't go insulting the show and it's viewers by claiming that is is geriatrics! A show would not survive without a large demographic spread across all ages.

Surely you can't be referring to that time that they changed the voting system to make sure Cher Lloyd stayed over Tesco Mary...can you?

After the farce that was last nights show the ratings will fall even further next weekend. They are just shooting theirselves in the foot.

Why do you lot watch it? We do, every week. Because we're at home and it's on. It's like a habit.
Used to settle in before the start and watch it. XFactor was on and my daughters did too.
Now it's put on but generally it's more background. May comment "not bad singer" or "off key" but generally we're on social media or reading as well. In the results show we don't actually care who goes.
So I think the six million comprises a lot who are not quite at the point of breaking this deeply ingrained habit. Watching also to see how bad the manipulation is getting.

The problem is NOT Sharon and Louis. The problem is Simon Cowell. The panel is irrelevant and whoever sits in those chairs will still be told to do the same thing. The entire show is nothing but manipulation and lies. Simon is allowed to do as he pleases and it is generally what ruins the shows. If he doesn't like an act, he throws them under the bus with a bad song, average comments and then ensures the panel vote against them. If the show was left as a basic singing competition (Eg. Best acts sing best songs) - the show would not be the farce it is today and would still be going strong.

The show's had a great run but it's just run its course. Simple as that.

S5-S7 were the golden years IMO, after that it went into terminal decline.

Totally agree the problem is all Cowell. His ego has just taken over he micro manages every show to get the outcome he wants, I think he actually still believes he knows what the public likes. This years offering of Bratavio and Honey G are the latest evidence of his poor judgement.
The public aren't fools this weekends treatment of Ryan along with the constant pushing of Honet further alienated the dwindling audience of viewers.
If I were an ITV executive I would sit him down and tell him it isnt working. His exclusion would be a condition of any contract extension.

I wonder if part of the trouble with these kinds of long term shows is that the talent pool gets smaller and smaller. Apart from people who have just turned 16 (or whatever the minimum age is) and people from Finland, who is there left who hasn't tried out before? It's very unlikely that there is this great undiscovered talent out there that has never auditioned for it before. Every year, the contestants become more mediocre and the producers panic and push stupid novelty acts in front of us to distract us.

Having said all that, it would help if they put the best people from judges houses through. Maybe they should start letting us vote much earlier on, if they had an idea who the public liked after bootcamp it might make the 6 chair challenge and judges houses a little less infuriating. Actually while I'm at it, let's get rid of the 6CC, it's by far my least favourite part.

I don't believe for a second that the man who showed his cock on Saturday night's Xtra Factor was a genuine mistake. That man probably works for Simon Cowell, and Simon knew beforehand exactly what was going to happen.
