4K Blu-ray Smart players are already in the shops and include models by Panasonic & Samsung.

I have also read reports that 4K BBC iPlayer will also be launched next year before any dedicated BBC TV channel.

I agree. I have 3 older female relatives/ friends whom can't be bothered 'learning' the HD channel numbers and if they accidentally get to a HD channel, can't see any difference in PQ. One relative sits within 4 feet of a 7 year old 50" Panasonic Plasma watching very very 'noisy' Freeview SD picks rather than turning on her TiVo HD box which she uses for the occasional recording ( in SD of course)).
