This bit of footage should have been part of the after show making of.

Shows the locals helping the turtles.

So happy to hear some of the turtles were given a hand. I kept thinking about them today.

Anyone who claims helping them is interfering with nature must be a right miserable git. Especially when it;s a man made problem in the first place.
This is the kind of thing when man is to blame we should step into help.

But not during things like hunts which some people moan about and say they should be saved like the Piglets thats just raw nature.

Anyone who has seen what really goes on at the end of a hunt (on the African plains for example) on Youtube will realise that all wildlife shows have to be censored somewhat - the reality is just too long, slow, agonising and brutal for most people.

Animals often take a long time to die.

I often visit a wildlife forum and the some of the videos there (filmed by tourists on a Safari holiday) simply defy description.

It would actually be a detriment to the conservation effort to show kills in their entirety - the Lean, Green, Gene Machine of Nature cares not for human sensibilities.

Raw indeed.

I like pigeons. It irritates me how so many people dismiss them as vermin. I once saw a cat padding off with a pigeon's neck clamped in its teeth and the bird looking around and making a low 'peep' sound and knowing it was over. Very sad.

I hate pigeons but aaww.

Domestic cats kill millions of birds needlessly.
Survival.

This is awful!! Can't they hire a turtle monitor to put them back?
Or stop it happening.

There are teams of people who regularly patrol the streets picking these turtles up and take them back to the water.
Good.

For the more sensitive posters on here, the BBC have tweeted that every turtle hatchling shown was placed in the sea afterwards.
Hmm. We're not so sensitive.

What a fabulous series - everything about it was excellent.
I learn every time.

Terribly thought provoking. David's certainly done everything he can in his lifetime to bring the wonder of nature to millions and let us know what needs to be done. Now it's over to us.
Yay Nesta

Earlier on I read a review of the DVD on Amazon by a supposed expert on Nature and Nature programmes and they basically said that the whole series was complete crap, they came across as a bit of an idiot!
Let this be a lesson to you! Don't read reviews on Amazon (well, unless there by me, obviously!) There's some very weird people with some even weirder agendas who simply delight in panning things that half the time they probably haven't even watched beyond the opening credits.

Please Keyser step back if you can into what started you off.

Your passion and knowledge, your kindness engaged me. I'm not interested in Dinosaours but you are interesting.

I forcé myself to look at what is presented but I don't need to go further.

I'm way behind with this series but thought the first episode was excellent. Some astonishing footage like the baby iguana (?) escaping from the snakes, and I did feel for what those poor penguins went through to gather food, some were bleeding etc, holy shit

How patronising of you, I don't need to be taught a lesson thanks! I just looked it up on Amazon and saw that everybody apart from that one person had rated it five stars (correctly in my opinion) and so out of interest had a look to see what the one person who rated it one star had to say about it so thought I'd mention it here, pardon me for wanting to contribute to the discussion.

Sorry owllover.

I am going through a very hard time atm and am feeling rather cynical about everything.

Gordon having palpitations, there!
Gordon - the cameraman we saw at the end of the last episode filming the leopards in India - has a series "Gordon Buchanan - Elephant Family and Me" starting on BBC2 Boxing Day 8.30

Singapore - WOW.
They did make it look really good. David seemed really impressed with the place, especially as it's just about the most densely populated country in the world.

After watching the last episode just now, what a great series. What some wild animals have to go through just to get their meals and the human race have their food whenever they want it. I completely agree with what David Attenborough said about how people should create a planet that provides a home not just for people, but for all life on this planet. Anyway, yeah, a wonderful series in my opinion.

I could be wrong, but I think they may wait until things have changed more before they do another series. Planet Earth was shown in 2006, so that was 10 years ago.

I don't think that's anything to do with what's changed. It just takes that long to plan and then execute all that extraordinary filming in some of the most inaccessible parts of the world.

A remarkably small proportion of the human race is in anything like such a fortunate position! Several thousand people die from malnutrition in the USA every year. There are an estimated 800 million people in the world suffering from inadequate nutrition.

A small percentage of it might not have food whenever they want it but the vast majority, or nearly all of it will though. I was just basically saying that wild animals in areas where humans don't live will go through a lot just to get their meal, or a meal for their young.

I think they're only brave enough to steal food because they're so used to humans. They seem to be comfortable being around people.

Which, in turn, is because people are comfortable being around them. Would that were the case here in miserable animal hating Britain!

UHD highlights clip available on iPlayer on Sky Q and other platforms. The PQ is stunning. What a difference!! It's like the animals are in the room.
