I wondered if it would have helped Louise more if she had stayed in the rehearsal room.

The vt's are nothing more than a waste of time for the celeb and pro, The time they spent traveling to Paris could've been used for more training and they only have 1 week to learn the dance, spend time at home and do their day jobs.

I miss the vt's from the old days.

I thought Len's comment was unnecessary ( many of them are imo ) ... the bit about well at least you got a free trip to Paris out of it

really ? like Louise needs something for free ?

eta . yes I also thought it was a total waste of training time

It set the seen..

On train it's a couple of hours and even in business class rather cheap.

It was Craig, not Len.

Totally unnecessary in my opinion. And as its the BBC its us who paid for that little trip with our tv licences.

It was utterly stupid. Most of the VTs are bad but sending someone to another country was possibly a new low in time wasting!

I suppose they could have done it with green screen and put the Eiffel Tower 🗼 in afterwards. 😏

It was completely unnecessary imo and the time wasted on it could have been used on training.

Nope it was a waste of time & money. How much did they just waste of our tv licence money with her, Kevin, camera, sound, makeup & production team going off on a jolly for 30 seconds of TV.

They should have spent more time rehearsing or if needed letting them both relax & recover at home as too many of them are ill with this bug that's affected most of the pros.

It doesn't take that long or cost that much to get to Paris so I don't think if affected anything. I don't get it, but I suspect that either Louise or Kevin had something on in Paris and tptb just spinned it as a special training trip or something so they could use the random props in the routine.

The VTs are becoming more and more like a big waste of time away from the dance studio.

That random Eiffel Tower on the floor was the most pointless theme as well. Business class Eurostar is not cheap so when you think those two had those seats, the film crew had their seats in standard - it racks up.

A day was wasted for that. It was very excessive. What I did like though was Louise seemingly miffed about the whole thing.

It might just have made sense if the song was about Paris.
Seemed totally irrelevant to be dancing round the Eiffel Tower anyway.
Did they have a random prop they wanted to work in?

It was quite brutal from Craig, but I think many were thinking the same.

I agree but it didn't seem to go down well with the studio audience and I think this is why he added the last bit of positivity.

It was necessary just for the joy of seeing Parisians take a Bof Alors stance to the whole thing je ramasse mon manteau....

None of the nonsense they do for the VT's is "necessary". I don't see why people are singling out a trip to Paris ? Some of the stuff they've done in the past was probably equally expensive to arrange, and it is a prime time tv show with huge ratings.

It was symptomatic of how much irritating nonsense has been added to the programme in the constant quest to increase the ratings, by attracting viewers who are more interested in "show" than "dance."

I agree the VT was a pointless waste of time, but they pay for the pros to take longer journeys when the celebs decide they don't want to train in London (Karen in Cornwall etc) and its not like they're going to be paying the fare a normal person would get offered online. A company as big as the BBC would surely have a company arranging their travel for them with discounted fares. In the scheme of money wasting on SCD I'm not that upset about my license fee in this instance.

Pointless, but no sillier than most of the other "going somewhere to get the celeb in the right mood/improve their balance/ensure they don't throw up/get an understanding of how party latin works" VTs.

I thought it was a good VT!

Also - Kevin had Louise doing the Rumba walk in several places in Paris, in front of crowds. I think that probably resulted in more confidence when she danced it on the Show.

The song didn't have an Eiffel Tower setting, so that whole theme was just random - just generically romantic.

I can't see what it had to do with the song or the dance, anyone?
Just so they could stick a plastic Eiffel tower in the background.

Strictly just makes very odd production decisions which rarely add anything to the performance. Would the dance have been any different without it?
Did Rob Rinder need the cow?

Isn't it all just part of putting in something to keep children amused ? Brucie was always aware that Strictly also had a very young audience watching with their mums and dads.
It's a bit of harmless fun that probably doesn't cost a lot in the whole scheme of things.
