eta . yes I also thought it was a total waste of training time”

That was Craig wasn't it? The comments were odd, that one included, for her scores which were good, they were quite off with their critique.

I agree though, complete waste of time, they have Sunday's off, have to run through the dances on Thursday in the studio and dress on Friday, they have no time at all, yet they ask them to waste so much time.

No, and I think they don't need these 'excursions' to foreign capitals or west end shows or samba clubs. Enough insight and build-up and entertainment can be got from well-edited training footage. As was the case with Claudia and AJ. It was clear in their pre-dance VT that he'd pushed her hard, and that issue became very relevant as the dance itself unfolded. They didn't need go to urban Rio de Janeiro to tell that story.

It's a bit of harmless fun that probably doesn't cost a lot in the whole scheme of things.”

I think it has gone too far in the attempt at keeping the children amused. It's turning me as an adult away.

It gets on my nerves as well. But it is scheduled at a very early time on a Saturday.

I bet it cost less than a lot of regular VTs, especially the ones where the BBC hires extras for comedy scenes, or has to hire a venue to film the segment in.

A handful of train tickets to Paris and filming publicly would be extremely cheap by comparison!

That said - I'd love to see all the cheesy VTs ditched for training footage & natural interactions.

It all looked like a montage to me

Did they really go to Paris? I thought it was just a fake screen?

of course it didn't help

none of the stupid "training" VTs help

all the celebs would benefit from NOT being dragged out of the training room and rehearsals to film them

The BBC is badly run, they'll make swingeing cuts in some areas and throw money away in others.

Strictly is one of their flagship shows where money is no object.

I don't believe they went at all. Put them looking like they are pictured on a train or,indeed, put them in the carriage, get them off and put a montage of Paris behind them. I can't believe how nobody else has picked up on this

Reason 888888888889 why I can't stand these vts nowadays . Sometimes, they don't even have anything to do with the dance in question

They were definitely in Paris. Some of the early shots in the VT do look like they feasibly *could* be greenscreen, but most of them it's transparent they were actually there. If they weren't then the BBC has access to better CGI techniques than most Hollywood films.

I am not happy that the BBC are using my Money to pay for Kevin and his partner as well as a crew to go to Paris. A complete waste of Money.

Must admit I did wonder. There were shots where they were dancing and none of the people passing paid any attention to them. I know the Frogs are a funny lot but you would expect some reaction.

I wondered if they might have used a mixture of inserting them into clips of Paris and perhaps some scenes shot somewhere in London that looked like Paris.

They didn't go to Paris it was obvious it was a fake background! I doubt they would waste a whole days training to go to Paris and the other dances would of been furious.

At last, a sensible and plausible possibility.

I would have thought that Kevin is on a fixed fee for the series.

The film crew is also quite possibly booked for the whole day so no extra cost.

Still wonder whether they actually filmed in Paris.

Also possible that Louise had to go to Paris on business to they fitted in with her trip.

Eurostar London-Paris is 2h15m, so with a proper plan the VT could have been achieved in an 8-9h round trip from the studio, Eurotunnel quoted me £328 for a large van flexi day trip to Calais, Eurostar quoted me £1295 for 5 people (4 days a la avance)

For those surprised that the French affected to take no notice, have you never been served by a parisian waiter?

Where has it been shown that the BBC paid for this? Maybe it was at personal cost?

Anton was in Malta with Lesley that cost a bit more.

Pros get £36k/ £39k for the whole series.

Wait a minute, you're complaining about a return trip on the Eurostar for 2 peeps plus camera crew. What about the crew that followed Anton and Leslie out to Malta? Or was that outrage on another thread that I missed?
