After doing a bit of research, I've realised that some actors and actresses are a lot older or younger than I expected. So, I was wondering if any other forum members had been shocked by the real ages of some actors.

This thread isn't to pick at actor's looks, it is just a question, so please don't be mean about how actors and actresses look.

Some that 'shocked' me are below:

Amanda Mealing (Connie in Casualty) is 48!
Richard Winsor (Cal in Casualty) is 34 (I thought he was younger).
George Rainsford (Ethan in Casualty) is 34 (I also thought he was younger)
Neil McDermott (Ryan in Eastenders) is 36 in December (again, for some reason he looks younger)
Jamie Lomas (Warren in Hollyoaks) is 41. I knew he was older, but I still don't think he looks 40!
Gemma Bissix (Clare in Hollyoaks) is 33. For some reason, I thought she was older.

Is there any I've missed?

Although it's a character not an actor, I was surprised to learn that, according to Emmerdale Wiki, Ross Barton is only 26 (born 1990)!

I think you go to medical school for 6/7 years or something then have years of training in the hospital to become a fully fledged dr so it would make sense cal and Ethan's ages.

Gemma Bissex was in Eastenders as Nigel's daughter so I knew her age roughly.

Surprised re Warren tho 😮 He deffo doesn't look his age.

Another one is Michelle in Corrie, she doesn't look her age at all looks ten years younger

I think Micheal Parr has looked older ever since he grew his beard thicker. I'm not criticising him, it's just something I've noticed.

Is Pete Barton only meant to be late 20s? I wouldn't be shocked if he was 40 in real life, he looks it.

Anthony Quinlan is 32. Pete Barton's meant to be 30 according to the wiki.

Cherylee Houston is 41; Izzy is 30
Patti Claire is only a year older than her at 42!

Surprised at how young Michael Parr is. I would have put 30 on him.

Micheal Parr is 30, the character is 4 years younger.

The actor who plays Rodney in Emmerdale is 78. I would've put him early to mid sixties.

I don't think Ken Barlow (or should I say William Roche) looks 84!! He could pass for early 70s imo.

These don't 'shock' me as such, because I already knew their ages, but I think that the following look a lot younger than they are (excluding Anthony Quinlan)

Tina O Brien (33) Could easily pass for early twenties
Fiona Wade (37) Her character in Emmerdale is 30, and I'd say she looks about that age
Anthony Quinlan (32) Looks late thirties at least to me.
Kym Marsh (40) Could pass for mid thirties
Patrick Mower (78) Looks about 65 ish
Gaynor Faye (45) I assumed Megan was about 39/40 ish, so this 'shocks' me a bit.

I think Ken is meant to be 77.

Oh right. I thought I heard or saw some reference to him being 84 recently. If so he is looking good on it.

Agree with all of these woul also add these from Emmerdale

Mike Parr (30) just read Ross Barton is 26. Should have had him as his own age
Ryan Hawley (31) Robert is 30 looks very young, could pass for early twenties
Louise Marwood (36) chrissie is the same age, much was made of Robert being her "toyboy" initally so I belivie they intended her to be early to mid 40's now, I would have though 40 would be ideal for her character

Agree about Robert.

For me I would say Linda EE (Kellie Bright) I just think they way they dress her and makeup makes her look older (she's 40 in real life, character similar age?)

William Roache is 84, but Ken is 77.

Anthony Cotton, 41.

I still see him as about 28.

Their ages make sense in the show, I meant that Cal and Ethan's actors - particularly Ethan, who IMO looks late 20's! - look a lot younger to me!

I actually think he looked older in Hollyoaks than he does now

Wow, I didn't know Cherylee was in her 40's!

Agree with all of these apart from Gaynor - my Mum is 40 and Gaynor looks a lot older so I, personally, would say she looks her age. Oh, and I think Anthony looks his age especially after seeing him in Hollyoaks

On a side note, Diane Parish, Bonnie Langford and Barbara Windsor look fabulous for their age IMO (and so does Letitia Dean), amongst others

WR has always been a handsome man (imo) and still looks great for his age.

I think if I saw him in the street and didn't know who he was, I'd think he was younger, but I think that, because he's Ken and he's been on Corrie for 56 years, I know he's old He does look good for his age though.

Bonnie Langford looks terrible for her age. Could easily pass for 60s.

I think she looks good, but matter of opinion I guess.
