I always remember the one that ended with a dog running up the street, barking. (In hindsight it probably wasn't really barking, just a sound effect like the ridiculous meowing cat in the current titles that clearly isn't meowing).

The 2002 ones are, in my opinion, the best. They blended all the elements of past credits but used new technology (CGI) to give a sense of wider Weatherfield.
The current credits and theme tune are an abomination. |

Oh James! These NEVER get old.
Wish ITV would start using them... paying you for the privilege, naturally! Imagine how good they could do titles like that with a bit of CGI for a tram in the final shot and perhaps surrounding streets in the establishing shot. Add in the classic cat in the ginnel shot and you've got a modern set of titles that feel entirely classic. And the old music is SO much better!!!! |

I really don't see why the original music was changed. The new version has added nothing new (it doesn't sound any more 'modern') and if anything it sounds cheaply made and uninspiring. At least the original had years of tradition associated with it. It was one of the biggest threads holding the show together.

First one I remember was he 1975 one which was the year I was born, but then I realised that one continued in a way for years. I know I learned how to say Cat from the Corrie titles.
What was the special titles for in 2008 was it a storyline |

The 1990 sequence is still my favourite. Most of it done on location to hit that authentic note before moving to the set in the last shot (although I could never figure out what the dog was chasing). You really get a sense of Coronation Street being somewhere just round the corner. The 1976 sequence had a similar idea but I'm a child of the 'videotape' era and for me that's Coronation Street's natural look.
I'm also partial to the 1964 and 1969 ones. The latter captures a moment in time really well as it was shot during the slum clearances so showing some tower blocks looming over the Coronation Streets that were left with some recently demolished terraces in view was a very appropriate image for the Corrie of that period. It would probably be my favourite if the final shot was taken on the set and not some random street that looks nothing like Coronation Street. The outdoor set in Grape Street was being rebuilt in brick at the time this was shot but they could easily have added it once it was finished in January 1970. As to the two modern ones, they both focus too much on the set itself, although I appreciate that it's not easy to find similar looking streets to Coronation Street. I prefer the 2010 one out of the two as I like the idea behind it, the only thing that mars it is the music. |

The Current titles are very ITV Genric if you get what i mean, especially the end of the opening titles, with the Name.
Same goes for Emmerdale, if Corries titles need updating, so do the Emmerdale ones, |
