So sorry for your loss Tiacat, we had our dog of 20 years put to sleep on Friday and it's so heartbreaking.
Think of all the good times, don't be ashamed to cry and think of the wonderful life you gave her. sending hugs |

I p icked up her ashes yesterday in a picture frame. I had to have my beloved Molly PTS this time last year, she had stopped eating and her back legs had stopped working well, and the Vet confirmed that it was time to let her go, and because we loved her this we did. We had an old male cat that was the neighbourhood stray, and had lived in our garden on and off for 10 years, comfortable warm bed in our shed and a summer kennel in the garden. Once Molly passed we brought him in, and despite his health issues( they thought he problems with his heart, and his liver) he enjoyed a spoilt pampered life for this past year. I had to have him PTS last sunday, his gait became staggering, he was lying in his litter tray to try and pee. I did'nt want Tom to leave me but it was the best thing for him. |

Feel for you all - we had to lose our 6year old on Tuesday. Pleural effusion/pneumonia, so sad.

Im feeling better now, it was better once I had the ashes back in the home.
I think I feel like other's have said, that she was very comfortable in life, had a good life and that has reassured me. |

I'm going through a similar situation with my cat. He has oral cancer and is not only losing weight fast but the lump under his tongue is getting worse. He's still eating and drinking but I think it's causing him pain. We are having to clean him as he can't do it himself anymore.
The vet has given us anti inflammatory meds but not sure they're working. It's only a matter of time before we have to call the vet for the final time. |

We've booked a home visit from our local vet to put our cat (Tigger) to sleep this Thursday afternoon. As much as I don't want to lose him, it's the right time.

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done, For this — the last battle — can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where to my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me till the end And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you Who has to decide this thing to do; We've been so close — we two — these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. |

My furry son, Tigger was put to sleep this afternoon. It was extremely difficult to accept and we're all heartbroken. The house feels so empty without him now.
I broke my heart when I got back the day my Amber was pts in 2012. I cleared up her litter tray in the utility room and all her dinner stuff from the kitchen, literally sobbing my heart out. It's why I had to get another cat immediately, not only to get over my own heartbreak, but also to provide a forever home to one of the so many cats in need of one. They all have their own personalities and you grow to love your new cat as much as the one you lost. Lucy is now 7 and absolutely in her prime. She really rules the roost here ! They ask so little and give so much xx |

Tough call, Wash. You have my deepest sympathy. You're right the house does feel so so empty.
