Advice needed please! How can I get files off of Samsung Galaxy J3 with black screen?
I've had my Samsung Galaxy J3 for about six weeks and for no apparant reason (and with no pressure/dropping of phone taking place) the phone screen suddenly went black with only an inch of picture visible at the top and pressure lines appeared, apparently emanating from the power button, but beneath the screen, so not actually cracks as such. Very quickly the rest of the screen went black with just flashes of colour occasionally appearing. Now if I switch on I can see nothing but can hear notification sounds only.
Reading several forums online it's clear that this has happened to numerous people with various Samsung models and for no apparent reason. So now I'm keen to get my pictures and other files off the phone. Have tried Dr Fone but this doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions as to how I can recover the files would be hugely appreciated please!!! |

What happens if you connect the phone to a PC using the USB cable? You should be able to get photos off from there.

When I connect to my laptop the phone details come up but when I click onto it, it tells me the folder is empty.

Do you have a PIN code on your lockscreen?

Yes I do. Would that be causing problems?

You can't access files when the lockscreen is protected by a code without unlocking the screen. That's why it appears empty. Does the screen still respond to touch? Otherwise you will need a USB OTG adapter/cable and keyboard to enter the PIN to unlock it.

Thanks for this helpful advice. No, it isn't responding to touch. So if I get a USB OTG adapter/cable, can I just attach this to a laptop or PC to unlock the phone?

The USB OTG adapter/cable is so you can plug a USB keyboard to the phone. You can then type your PIN and press enter. Then unplug the OTG cable and keyboard and plug your phone in your PC before it locks again. It then should work. See http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-...roid-keyboard/ on how to connect the keyboard.

black screen problems
Another thing you could try and might be better for you is to have the screen replaced? There are many repair shops dotted around most towns and cities and Samsung screens are quite easy to replace, so shouldn't really cost much. Then your phone should be working as new again.
