She announced an arena concert in Finland.
https://www.facebook.com/saaraaaltoo...type=3&theater

My first own arena concert ever!! At Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, on 15.4! In My Wildest Dreams, definitely.. I never saw this coming so fast!! This is a thank you concert for all of you who supported me throughout the autumn! This is gonna be the best night! <3 And to all of my fans outside Finland: this is a perfect opportunity for you to travel to Finland and visit Helsinki!! I welcome you all here with an open heart <3 See you soon!

I think Saara is being subsidized by the Tourism Board of Finland.

I'm thinking this is a tester. If it does well it will be brought over to the UK, possibly travel to a few Europe stops. Its right after the XF Tour, isnt it?

Just days after losing to Bromley boy MATT TERRY in the ITV talent show final, the Finnish singer has signed a five-album deal with Sony Music UK and Sony Finland.

Is that just The Sun misunderstanding and embellishing or for real? Usually only the Winners got 5 album deals. That seems unusually generous. I mean I'm sure its a "X albums with an option for more" kind of deal but still.

I think any X Factor contestant can sign a 5 album deal. As you've mentioned, the number of albums simply represents the options for the label. If the label thinks the last album released did well enough, they pick the option for the next album. If not, the artist is "dropped". Once there are no more options, the artist is free to go to another label or to resign with the current label. It's entirely possible that both Matt and 5AM got a "5 album deal", but no one is making a big deal out of it. It's possible that The Sun in just reporting on what Saara and other sources in Finland told them. I think this signing and "5 album deal" just seem a much bigger deal in Finland that in the UK. I'm saying that as someone from a smaller European country. If a Slovenian artist announced they signed a "5 album deal" with a major, our media would report it as a big thing.

I wondered, because if my memory is correct 1D renegotiated their contract right around the 3rd album. In their case however, they were so successful at that point they could have easily broken the existing contract, paid the penalty and walked away so maybe Syco figured it would be better to rewrite their deal to keep them. Obviously the group went ahead with it.

Well yeah, the parties can renegotiate their existing contract if they both want to.

In 1D's case the boys probably wanted better advances considering their sales and the label wanted more options (albums) from them.

It's not a matter of the deal being "generous" to the singer. A deal with Saara Aalto, or any other singer, is not a "gift", it is a commercial decision. Sony will make a deal with a singer if they think they can make money from such a deal.

Wow. Diane warren and sia are two of the most successful -and best - songwriters of recent times, and David foster is less well known but he wrote "I Have Nothing" for Whitney Houston and he produced ' I didn't know my own strength "!

However he also wrote for Chicago so it's not all good news and in the 80s Rolling Stone magazine described his music as 'bombastic pop kitsch"!

I guess that's similar to what Saara is calling "epic love pop'. As long as her musical diet isn't too cheesy, we could get some amazing songs,

Not sure why the Appreciation thread never really took off? But the discussion seems to be here for now.
No doubt when interest begins to wane it'll shift over there, as it'll be easier to find.

Thing is, Saara is a good song writer in her own right, so she doesn't need anyone to write songs for her.
Check out any of the songs on 'You Had My Heart'. I specially like 'Can I Keep the Pictures'.

Although I suppose it will give the album more publicity, if big names are involved?
Having said that, I've never heard of Diane Warren or David Foster; and only vaguely of Sia. (that's the girl with the dishmop on her head, right?)

That's right re Sia ! Google Diane warren, she's written for everyone - Tina turner, Cher, but also some contemporary artists. Though it's fair to say she's more known for writing for artists who are now in the " greatest hits album" phase of their careers, but I will gladly be corrected on that.
But Diane can write great great melodies that could help saara sell albums and tours.

I've heard saara 's own song No Fear and I'd say lyrically it's very strong but it lacks that killer tune or chorus that will open doors worldwide for her, that's what her songwriting partners could do for her.

Diane Warren wrote some of the biggest songs of the 80's, 90's and 00's. I think her most recent hit is Paloma Faith's "Only Love Can Hurt Like This". She has written many big, great songs. That said, she is definitely in the realm of adult contemporary and not one of today's hottest hitmakers. David Foster is a legendary producers and he is also adult contemporary. Sia is considered current, but like Warren writes songs for big voices.

The direction for Saara's album seems to be set, but it's hardly exciting.

None of this years appreciation threads seem to have taken off - 5 AM's has had five replies and Matt's has only had two

This one seems to be popular and lots of people are viewing it

Not sure what sort of music you would consider "exciting"?
But I doubt Saara would want to sing it. And I doubt I would want to listen to it.

Having said that, my preferred genre is guitar based rock , but I do also like good female singers like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Sam Bailey ..... Saara.

Rylan said that Diane Warren and David Foster will be working on the album and Sia has written a one song for Saara. So, Sia isn't going to LA.

Saara Aalto apparently great business for Finland. According to Finnish press, she has caused google searches for Finland to rise 30% and has a marketing value of 150 million Euros.

According to Google's currency converter, the equivalent of about £1.2bn here if it's true.

She seems to have quite a few gigs lined up from the end of December onwards (including 2 on New Year's Eve).
Can't see much of a window there to go to LA to record an album?
Unless that comes later in the year?

Maybe the trip to LA is for meetings and introductions to the people she is likely to be working with? I can't see her recording anything till after the X Factor tour is over. And she'll probably be booked for summer festivals too

She's going to be working with Metrophonic Music who have done songs for Olly Murs, James Arthur, James Bay, Sigma ft. Take That, Jonas Blue amongst others. She met with them before she went back to Finland for Christmas. They tweeted that they were very impressed with her, she's quite a star and very smart. They said that they're looking forward to working with her.
