Showmance's should be banned and punishable
Of course, it will never happen as they appear to be the programme's bread and butter these days. The producer's are completely incapable of providing fun entertainment these days so rely solely upon sex. But I do think BB should enforce strict rules on showmance's as they are boring viewing and completely ruin the show.
Where is the FUN? What happened to the FUN!?? ![]()

How are they supposed to police this, exactly? Get the showmancers to take lie detector tests?
The majority of viewers and the media love a showmance or a romance, so a ban is never going to happen. Maybe your ideal house would be a single sex house with no gay people, so it would be impossible for any romantic attraction to occur. They would all sit around drinking tea and talking about the weather. Scintillating stuff. |

They should announce anyone coupling up in the first 2 weeks will not be given any camera time, then see how they like it!! ![]() Plus its too safe and easy to pair up with someone, they admit times goes faster when in a showmance, but the viewers are the ones watching. |

That won't ever happen.
remember they tried it for a small amount of time in BB10 as a dig at Sophie to stay away from Kris? You can't police it. What defines a showmance? People say it's a showmance if flirting is involved, so I suggest everyone just doesn't speak to each other to avoid it? That'll be interesting... not. |

The easiest way to squash it would be for HM's to actively target the showmances as they gain too much control too easily.

Even real ones get slammed on BB forums so it's pointless trying to make judgements.

Showmances are annoying, but they aren't the big evil lots of people on this forum make them out to be. Plus it'd be impossible to police as some romances are genuine - I notice that if people don't like the couple, they'll automatically assume the couple is a showmance.

To some people it is impossible for two strangers shut in a house to fall for each other genuinely, but just because they are in BB, doesnt meant they aren't still humans with emotions, hormones and feelings... Every "relationship" these days is regarded as a showmance by most, so it is impossible to have a rule where showmances are banned without preventing genuine ones, as no one really knows the truth apart the two people involved. If there was a way to separate the real from the fake then yes it would be ideal but there is no way, as one persons fake is anothers real !

Yeah that would be good. Or like in the old days seperate bedrooms for the guys and girls.

Cut it all out but don't announce it. Let them come out and discover that all their tonsil hockey and dry humping, has been for nothing. Others will soon get the message. |

From a perspective of actually wanting to win the show rather than helping someone else win the show couples are bad news in the BB setup.
It's way too easy to create a "core four" when you have a couple. The couple plus her best friend and his best friend create a voting block that will never vote against each other. Single people then get easily picked off and no one really cares as they go by the not me mentality. Also couples can gain an extra advantage from the production team wanting to push the showmance narrative which is only more bad news for everyone else. |

I don't mean just a group forming, but one that succeeds in picking off single people and gets one of the group to win BB. |

Can you find any example of that happening (except for the Helen group in BB whatever)?
I don't mean just a group forming, but one that succeeds in picking off single people and gets one of the group to win BB. But I'll give you a couple of examples of Showmances winning. Josie Gibson .. also had a huge hand in the win from the production team Aaron Allard-Morgan .. production even drafted in Fayes sister to bolster their numbers. |

That is more the point on this forum. |

By a fan of Emilia Arata?? Wasnt she in one?
![]() On a sidenote I would have liked Emilia with or without Jeremy. However my point still stands that showmances gain power very easily be it in easily created alliances and or with help from the production team who are desperate to promote them. |

'Blohe' and 'Lewnie' was a new low, even for this programme. Secondly, I wouldn't object to any same-sex partnerships within the BB/CBB house as I'm gay myself, I fully support them. Therefore, I find your comments shallow and slightly offensive, but I won't lose any sleep over them. Finally, it's extremely naive of you to believe that a house sans fake relationships/showmances wouldn't be interesting, and consist of tea-drinking and weather chat! People are capable of insightful and intelligent conversation you know, including contributors to these boards, although you constantly appear to think otherwise! A BB with interesting and intelligent participants .. isn't that just outrageous! ? .. The media has plenty of fake/set up romances to feast upon without cheapening Big Brother even further. Do you work for BB? I ask you this as your responses are somewhat robotic and always in full support of it - even when the show and the team behind it are unjustifiably at fault! Everyone is different, has their opinion, and rightly so, but you staunchly defend the show in response to every single comment on this board, regardless of the nature! Get real!

You couldn't make this shit up ![]() My biggest issue with showmances, apart from the fact that they're as boring as ***k, is that they give the participants therein an unfair advantage over the singletons. BBs a game of mental resilience as much as anything else, and having a supporter/confidant/lover in the house means you don't have to be as strong an individual as you need to be if you're not part of a couple.....IMO |
