Is Strictly voting a little bit "ageist"?

Very possibly. But still I think people judge on the entertainment value rather than ages. Leslie was very popular but so much was said about her age and how marvellous she was despite it.

I thought she was pretty okay regardless of her age.

Yes. She was probably kept in longer because she is a good danger "for her age" even though she wasn't that good and wasn't improving.

It was still kind of cruel to the elderly to keep her in. Did you see her post-Strictly interview where she was saying how tired she is and how she is relived to go and have some rest.

She looked exhausted after the Charleston and about 10 years older than she started by this Saturday. Does anyone really think it wouldn't be dangerously cruel to make her jive?

And if anyone thinks I'm ageist for not wanting a load of judges discussing her hip dislocation or seeing her keel over during a salsa then I'll have to take the title and live with it.

Well, she got through 5 weeks without injury porn, so she seemed more resilient than those a generation and more younger than her.

Elderly? She's a regularly working actress. Most women by the time they get to 70 years of age are retired - not working full-time at their day job and learning how to dance and perform in a TV competition in their non-working hours. She puts many women (and men) who are half her age to shame. I bet all the other contestants are feeling every bit as tired as she is.

I think she has every right to admit to feel tired - regardless of her age, which is after all, merely a number.

Incidentally, given that she does yoga, her chances of dislocating her hip are probably fewer than some of the others.

At least she's been spared having to do a rumba or paso with Anton! I thought she had a couple of weeks perhaps but she's had a chance to learn the most entertaining dances,
Anton seems to have genuinely enjoyed dancing with her and she him, and she is definitely one of his better partners, regardless of age.

There could certainly be a thought that an elderly contestant, no matter how good they are, won't be able to improve as much over 10 weeks as a teenage gymnast say. If they aren't seen as potential finalists they don't get people's long term votes so they have to make every single dance worth voting for on merit, which is tough (even if you're not choreographed to clamber over a table before you start). Being completely rubbish is the other route to success but Lesley was better than that.

I think Ed can survive Halloween week so it will have to be some other reason why someone goes on Saturday.

Which is funny as I think that Laura or Anatasia will be next - chalk that down to ageism, xenophobia or good 'ole fashioned anti-Semitism and anti-Irish prejudice.

When what'll actually be is not good enough to safe or bad enough to be funny.

Hang on the GBP are now ageist. I thought we were all racist. I was thinking it's all a bit sexist with only one man in the dance off out of 8 so far.

After Saturday I'm surprised we haven't been condemned as anti-Semite.

When Ed goes does that make us fatist?

Probably it makes you a Tory... which I accept is a pretty low blow!

That means Ed is in the final at that rate.

I did wonder how long it would be before this thread was started

Fair play to Lesley I say. I wish I could have kept up with her.

Yes, all those who vote are over 60 and should know better.
