What about a Denise van Outen special?
It just involves sitting on a chair

The rules say one foot has to be on the floor at all times in non-lift dancing. Laura has one working foot. Easy.
A rumba on one leg might be all right, lots of arms and hips and very smooth so no jolting the ankle, male dancer often takes the female dancer's weight to hold her in position. It would be awkward if she did leave, can't have 2 in the final, can't bring back someone who's already been voted out (well you could but there would be complaints), bringing back Will would be even worse, can't bring in someone new as they would be so far behind everyone else and they'd need a massive fanbase to have a chance of not being voted out first chance we get But Laura's health is the important thing and can't see the producers trying to push her into it after letting Anastacia off the dance off. |

Effectively Anastacia had a bye in the dance off and Laura has a bye this week then come back next week and dance albeit a dance that's not going to put added strain on her ankle.
Not sure where the masses of threads about the unfairness of Lesley going out this week are, seems to me there is a bit of hypocracy there. Of course neither should have been made to dance, of course they had to have their bye, just not sure why Laura is not getting the in depth expert diagnosing of her ankle injury and the calls that it wasn't fair on Lesley to go out the same as Anastasia did over Melvin. Probably as the relevant people don't care about her and don't think they can manufacture ill feeling towards her. Interesting! so they were obviously not bothered by the unfair aspect but just wanted to kick an injured contest any when they were down. Says a lot about them. |

Yes ... not the same situation at all. In fact it was the reason a lot of people were annoyed with Anastasia in that she should have taken a bye and not danced at all that week. She should have taken into account that she may well have to dance it twice. Seems a bit arrogant that she didn't.
Melvin undoubtedly would have been in the dance off anyway and would have gone home but he didn't get the chance to do a last proper dance with Janette and that was totally down to Anastasia who went against medical advice. |

This thread was quite interesting until people reverted to discussing the Anastacia dance off.
![]() Moving back to the question, there isn't really a suitable dance, although VW would be less taxing than a Waltz probably. I think I would go for paso. There is still some stress on the ankles but a lot of the figures use walking steps and I would hope that good upper body shaping would distract from deficiencies in the footwork. |
